Time to upgrade the references and increase the diversity of sources
[edit]The references on this page are all published by AIP, and it would be nice to upgrade these to non-self-published sources. In the process of doing so, it would be great to clarify some statements taken from the AIP website. One in particular that this I would love to learn more about is the statement that AIP was formed in response to a physics research funding crisis in the Great Depression, a statement that I find interesting and surprising because there was no federal science funding agency at the time (e.g., NSF was established in 1950). As a person who submits to AIP journals myself, I have a conflict of interest, but have placed the tag on the site in hopes that others will take up this important task.
