@Earthh: The vast majority of "Background" does not actually discuss the background to the album. The paragraph starting with "The group began preparations for new music in November 2015..." is discussing the album's writing, which is irrelevant to a section that is supposed to be discussing the lead-up to an album, such as a catalyst for its creation, rather than the creation itself. This should ideally be in a section discussing the album's creation, preferably titled "Recording", "Composition", "Production", or any combination of the three and/or similar terminology. The passage starting with "The band later embarked on a promotional tour..." and the paragraph starting with "While touring, Thirty Seconds to Mars announced "Walk on Water" as the lead single from the album..." belong in "Promotion", as it talks about singles and tours promoting music from the album and the album itself. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk·articles·reviews) 11:42, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The section actually discusses the background to the album. The national tour with Muse did not promote music from America, since it started in May and ended in September 2017, while the album's first single was released only on August 22. The release of Walk on Water occurred eight months before the release of the album, in a period in which the record was still in production. Critical reaction to the single, the band's political statement at the EMAs, and the shooting of a documentary film about Independence Day, are included in the section to introduce what was the general tone and direction of the album several months before its completion. @Earthh: Several months before completion, but not several months before the start of the album’s production itself? That’s what I mean as a “Background” here. What you’re discussing are events that have happened while the band was making the album, and not before it. The “Background” ideally should talk about what led up to the album being made, and what the catalysts were for its creation, not just a generic list of events that happened before the album was released. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk·articles·reviews) 13:27, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
