Got Talent WikiProject...Show Your Support!!!

Hello, I have created a proposal on creating a WikiProject for the entire Got Talent series (Canada, America, Italy...every country that has the show!!!). If you are interested in joining this project, please go here and add your name to the list. I hope to get the project running as soon as possible, but I need a few committed people to help. I will be sending messages to people who have been editing the Got Talent articles in hopes of grabbing their attention. PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!--Dom497 (talk) 21:08, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Stop adding present

Can people stop adding present in the infobox. If the date is (2007–), then the slash means that the person is ongoing/active/present etc. It does not need the physical word to say it. We've had this debate in the past and it can stay removed. It's not brain surgery to work out that if no date is present then the person is ongoing, and also the fact that present people are listed first emphasises that they go first. Stop forcing your changes onto this page without discussing it when it's perfectly fine how it was.JackJackUK (talk) 12:59, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate your opinion, but we need 'present'. It would in fact look silly if it were (2007–), as it would look like just the year & an unnecessary dash, which looks very informal. All the articles have (2007–present), except for the few that have recently been wrongfully changed.  MegastarLV  (talk)
No we don't need present, and it does not look silly like that. It's not brain surgery to work out that the slash means no year is there does it. Leave it how it is, no other page: The X Factor UK, The X Factor USA, Australia's Got Talent, The Voice U.S. - none follow your format, and they've not been "recently" changed. What nonsense.JackJackUK (talk) 22:22, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Not MY format. It's the format that has always been followed. None follow your format.  MegastarLV  (talk)
Every page is different, so don't try that thanks, and sorry but if it's the supposed format that's always been followed, explain why NO other talent show follows that format? Don't think you can walse in, and start dictating to me about Wikipedia.JackJackUK (talk) 22:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Every page may be different, but we follow ONE format. Those other articles were changed by someone who may have a different opinion on it.  MegastarLV  (talk)

Top Selling Albums section

I think we should delete this section. This information can already be found on the contestants' respective Wiki pages, and it puts an unnecessary emphasis on singers, when the competition features many different types of acts. Gamer9832 (talk) 17:46, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

The section is relatively short. I'd leave it in, unless it becomes much longer, in which case we could move it to its own article and just leave a one paragraph summary here about alumni album sales. The section shows a very interesting fact about this competition, which is that Evancho has by far outsold all other AGT competitors combined. I think it should also be mentioned somewhere that Terry Fator has gone on to a very successful career, and any other very successful alumni of the show should be highlighted somehow. -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:19, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Cast order

Arsenalfan24, on Wikipedia, lists go in chronological order (unless it's alphabetical), and that includes in the infobox. I did not notice that it was not correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I have corrected that as well. --Musdan77 (talk) 17:52, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

If you actually look, present judges are always listed first then it goes in order of inactive judges in chronological order. It really is silly to display people who no longer contribute to the show first. Arsenalfan24 (talk) 19:16, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Look where? I was trying to find where I'd read before where it says that it should be the original order first to the most recent, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone else help? I do know that it says in the MOS that it's acceptable in the infobox to just have the current cast, with a link to the complete cast list in the main article. --Musdan77 (talk) 02:50, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
There is NOTHING what so ever in the Wikipedia template stating your way is the correct way to display judges.Arsenalfan24 (talk) 01:43, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
It's funny (and embarrassing) how it took me a year to figure out where I had read it before (and even after a year, you still didn't answer my question). Yes, Template:Infobox_television#Attributes does say that it should be chronological: "Cast are listed in original credit order followed by order in which new cast joined the show." Now, it is possible to go against MOS, if there is consensus found here. --Musdan77 (talk) 04:53, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
"Judges: If the show involves judges, list them here, separated using Plainlist." Try again.Arsenalfan24 (talk) 23:32, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Present Value of the Grand Prize

As stated on every episode, the winner doesn't get $1 Million outright, but rather $1 million over 20 years or the present value of such an annuity.

Other shows like Survivor give a one-time payment for the full value of the grand prize, so I think this is significant.

For reference the formula is PV = X/(1 + r)t where PV is the present value, X is the amount of money paid, r is the interest rate and t is the number of years.

At 5% interest that means the grand prize (if they wanted wanted it upfront) would be $623,110. And that's if it was a solo act! Between that or getting $50K/per year, this diminishes the value of the "$1 million" prize.

Side note: if you took the payments over 20 years and you have 3 or more people in your group, it's the equivalent of a less than a minimum wage job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki-kun (talkcontribs) 18:58, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

In the Top-Selling Albums section, Lindsey Stirling's album should be added. Someone would need to do the research, but in its 2012 independent release, it sold at least 200,000 copies in the U.S. and more than that abroad, and then it was re-released in 2013 and has been on the Billboard charts ever since. It was the #2 classical album for 2013. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:22, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Mel B and Brandy

I believe that they should be credited as Brandy and Mel B instead of Brandy Norwood and Melanie Brown. This is what they are credited as on the show. Wikipedia articles always credit the cast members as what they were, not what they are now. For example on Saturday Night Live, Siobhan Fallon Hogan is credited as Siobhan Fallon, and that is what it is left as. Nancy Carell is credited as Nancy Walls. I am going to change Brandy Norwood to just Brandy and Melanie Brown to just Mel B. It will all go back to the same page anyways, but this is more correct. Thoughts? -- Sharklover5555 16:28, 12 March 2014 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.96.229.43 (talk)

Much later response. I changed all the Melanie Brown references to Mel B, as that is what her article here is titled. I left Brandy Norwood alone, since her article is titled with her full name, not just "Brandy".108.99.162.8 (talk) 23:44, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Order of judges in table

I changed the table back to the order I had it in to begin with for a number of reasons:

  • it looks better aesthetically
  • the original judges are in alpha order
  • it is easy to see at a glance which of the current judges has been with the show the longest

108.99.162.8 (talk) 23:42, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Guest judges table

I'm not happy with the guest judges table but can't think of a better way to do it. Note that bolding the "Guest judges" subtitle is done manually rather than using the ! code; I've deliberately not shaded the subtitle to parallel the guest judges' names not being shaded while the host judges' names are shaded. I've included a mock-up of the table in future years to illustrate how changing a host judge would affect this table (with added placeholder data to show options):

Season Year Host judges
Howie Mandel Howard Stern Mel B Heidi Klum
Guest judges
10 2015 Marlon Wayans Neil Patrick Harris Piers Morgan Michael Bublé
11 2016 Wanda Sykes Ellen Degeneres Jimmy Fallon Josh Groban
12 2017 Laura Linney
Lea Michele Scott Bakula Pink Rhianna

I'd welcome improvements, however. 108.99.182.28 (talk) 00:14, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Update: Added column for Year to reflect changes in article; changed font color for future years to avoid redlinks.108.98.246.235 (talk) 23:50, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
Another update: Removed wikilinking of people not actually part of show (placeholder data for illustration purposes) to avoid there being false "What links here" data on other pages.184.244.186.62 (talk) 09:16, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Somehow the table should be changed to show the date or episode number that the guest judge appears in. And the regular judges names should not be linked per WP:REPEATLINK, which I have removed. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:20, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

No dates in infobox

Please stop adding dates to the infobox for the judges and host. Consensus was reached via this Request for Consensus: Talk:Top Gear (2002 TV series)#RfC: Should years be included in the infobox. The result was that dates should not be included in the infobox.70.9.148.152 (talk) 16:48, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

That's fine, but it really should say "Years", not "Dates". I don't know of any article that uses dates in infobox. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:24, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Add: Although consensus was found to not use year ranges in TV series infoboxes, that doesn't mean that an individual article can't use them if consensus is reached for that article. --Musdan77 (talk) 16:35, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Calculating number of episodes for infobox

The citation given for the number of episodes directs to an IMDb page which is not being kept up-to-date. Therefore, calculating the number of episodes involves taking the number shown at the Season 1, Episode 1 IMDb link in the citation and adding episodes that are not yet present in the IMDb listing. To do that, follow the "1 of 233 Episodes" link on the IMDb page just above the "Cast" listing and check to see what the latest episode to be listed is. As of today, July 11, 2015, it's Season 10, Episode 3, which aired on June 9. So, the "233" shown at the link in the citation stops at June 9. There have been four episodes since then: June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7; therefore, as of July 7, there are 237 episodes. 70.9.148.152 (talk) 16:57, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

IMDb is considered an unreliable source, so it would be better to use an official - or some other reliable - source. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:27, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Duplicate guest judges table

There are currently two guest judges tables, America's Got Talent#Guest judges and America's Got Talent##Golden_Buzzer_2. I removed the latter mentioned one as I found the other to be more visually appealing, but was reverted by CCamp2013. Since there is no reason to have duplicate information in the same article, I've removed the duplicate content again, but I'd like to invite comments here. Please ping me if you do reply to me. Thanks! — kikichugirl oh hello! 03:26, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

@Kikichugirl: The one you deleted contains information not in the other table, please put this information somewhere else before deleting it or leave it as is. This information is the acts chosen by the guest judges for the golden buzzer. CCamp2013 (talk) 22:13, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
Tables with only one or two rows are unnecessary and just look bad. The info can be better implemented in prose. —Musdan77 (talk) 23:28, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
The table contains concise information regarding which acts were awarded the Golden Buzzer by the Guest Judges. To include this information in prose would be more difficult to read. The table will grow as the seasons progress, so the "short table" argument is invalid. 2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:22, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
@2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4: Please remove the information until you get consensus to add it. Chase (talk) 19:29, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
CCamp2013 The table was first added in 2015 and even you initially reverted its removal with the same argument I have here—deleting it removes information. Unless someone comes up with a valid reason for its removal or obtains consensus for its removal, it should stay.2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:33, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 Yes, I did, but the arguement Musdan77 gave was convincing and I reversed my thinking. No one challenged his removal, therefor it became consensus. Thanks. Chase (talk) 19:35, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
  • I have no opinion on the edit war however I've come to ask both the IP and CC to actually discuss it etc etc instead of reverting back and fourth, I don't really wanna spend my evening filing a AN3 report, If you both cannot come to any agreement start an RFC or go to 30, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:38, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
CCamp2013 The fact that it was restored is a challenge to its removal, don't you think? Nothing "becomes consensus" without it being stated that it is consensus, or the overwhelming majority of comments support it as consensus. Neither is evident in this discussion.2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:40, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
CCamp2013 Additionally, there is no entry that documents you "reversed [your] thinking". So there is NO consensus. I think the argument for inclusion (deleting information) is stronger than those for deletion (short table, duplicate judge names). Now what?2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:43, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
I want the information on the page just as bad as you do, but the arguement made by Musdan77 was a valid point. "Tables with only one or two rows are unnecessary and just look bad. The info can be better implemented in prose." Which is the truth, so I will wait until next season to add it, and so should you. Chase (talk) 19:45, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
I totally disagree. The length of the table has no bearing, as the table will grow in time. Also, the initial objection was that there were two Guest Judges tables, which is no longer the case, as the Guest Judges table was converted to prose. I'm in favor of tables for both the Guest Judges and the Guest Judges Golden Buzzer; however, the prose provides the missing information and can be expanded to a table next season. The GJGB table provides missing information and there is no reason to omit the information or add it as prose now only to convert it to a table in the future. 2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:49, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Assuming that there will be guest judges and they will get a golden buzzer is WP:OR. Chase (talk) 19:51, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Even the prose for the Guest Judges is overlong and contains unnecessary information. It doesn't matter what date the Guest Judge appeared; a table would more concisely convey the information than the prose currently does. 2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 19:52, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
I think we should wait until others weigh in, because our opinions are not going to change. I would put the table back, but it'll just be removed, the table you added looks bad however. The one I modifed is the one that should be used when the time comes. Chase (talk) 19:59, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

In the meantime, I've added the relevant information as prose so that it's at least included in the article. 2601:240:C901:FD00:5459:89C:81CA:CFE4 (talk) 20:05, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

For furture reference; Here is the table:

Golden Buzzer

Since season ten (2015), twenty acts perform during four weeks of cuts. A guest judge, chosen by one of the regular judges, appears each week. The guest judge has the opportunity to use their golden buzzer to send an act straight into the live shows. If an act gets all four X's, they are automatically eliminated from the competition. Seven acts advance each week, six chosen by the judges and one from the guest judges' golden buzzer.

New tables being reverted

Hello, I made some new tables, which I believe improve the article, but they are getting reverted by one particular user. The old tables are clustered and a mess. There is absolutely no reason that there should a "winner's prize" column and there is no reason why the judges needed to be coloured in. The table for the golden buzzer does not follow the MoS either. The top of the chart should not be grey coloured. I do want to point out that the user that is reverting my changes did make the old tables, so it may be an issue of ownership of content. While I have made some mistakes in the past, I have also made 1,795 edits which I have gotten experience from. The user who is reverting the new changes only has 50. These are the tables that I made. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Computer40 «»(talk) 03:30, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

Your tables look simpler and better. I think those should be on the article. Meanwhile, the golden buzzer table could still be improved. -Hiwilms (talk) 12:07, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Here's an example from the Asia's Got Talent article.

Golden Buzzer

Auditions

The golden buzzer, placed at the center of the judges' table, gives each judge a chance to send an act straight to the semifinals. It can be only pressed by a judge once per season.

Starting season 2, the hosts, as one, also get to press the golden buzzer. This is to keep the number of Golden Acts to four, following the reduction of the number of judges to three.

Thank you for your attributions to the America's Got Talent article. I'd like to first start off by saying that the reason the tables being reverted has nothing to do with me feeling as if I have ownership of the tables. I actually did not make the table itself, I reorganized it by putting the judges in the correct order in which they sit on the panel. The "Series Overview" section is where many, if not most, TV talent shows put a list of their judges. Many shows do not have the judges table that you insist is added to this article as many find it cluttered and confusing. While yes, the current Series Overview table may be cluttered, the judges and hosts should still be listed on this as they are other TV talent shows. The Golden Buzzer table that you have created actually makes things more cluttered and has no visible appeal. When viewers of the document see your golden buzzer table, they might believe that Nick Cannon and Howard Stern are still apart of the show because it looks as if they can fill up a section of the table. If you feel like the Series Overview table is cluttered, I would be willing to hear your ideas of ways to improve it. The Golden Buzzer table, however, I feel should stay the same. I also feel as though your Judges and Hosts table should not be included on this article. Also I would like to point out that just because you have made more edits to pages than I have, it does not mean that you are a better editor than I am. Experience does not always make someone better and I do not see how then number of edits that I have made is relevant to this topic. (Editor.ww.wentz (talk) 02:11, 22 June 2018 (UTC))

Season 13 guest judges

Does anyone have sourcing on these? I can't find a source anywhere and a lot of people online are referring to this chart as gospel. We'll know for sure on Tuesday but thought I'd bring it up anyway. --Gadget593 (talk) 08:16, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

"Contestants that have appeared on other seasons" section

So, on the season 13 page what has been done is the contestants were presented in a table format, rather than a list. It's been said by a few people that this looks more organized, so do we want to change the format for all the seasons to make it look more uniform? I personally think the table looks a lot cleaner than the list. I'd be open to helping change the lists, but I thought I'd ask first and see what other people think. QueerFilmNerdtalk 18:10, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

I agree. It's definitely cleaner than the sentence format. Since the 13th season article was already changed, other seasons must follow the format, too. -Hiwilms (talk) 03:30, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Suggestion for improving Season articles of America's Got Talent

I'll think I'll leave a suggestion for improving the respective Season articles of America's Got Talent, and see what everyone thinks. Basically, the information should be reorganized as such:

  • Lead - Brief overview, consisting of: broadcast dates; changes in panel and/or host; disruptions to broadcast of season; winner, runner-up and third place results; average viewing figures for whole season.
  • Season Overview - Detailed information on changes to panel and/or host, and format of show (no explanation on the format for a respective part, leave to Main article); Locations for where auditions took place; significant incidents that disrupted filming or broadcasting of season; overall number of participants for live episodes (include those who received Golden Buzzer in auditions, where applicable in terms of Format), and overall number of finalists by the end.
  • Season Results - Table of results consisting of participants, including: name; age; act; genre; location from; overall performance (i.e. where they ended up at (e.g. knocked out in semi-finals)). Highlight acts who got Golden Buzzer, and those selected as Wildcard act (if Format applied to that Season). Provide detailed results for Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals, including Buzzers by Judges and Votes made by them, and Finals, including overall position from votes.
  • Ratings - Table of Viewing Figures and Details for Season (don't include Averages on this table; keep for the Lead)

Controversies, Criticism & Incidents - Highlight notable, significant incidents; nothing trivial, scandalous or anything that goes against WP:LIVING and WP:NOTNEWS

Don't include details on auditions for the overview of a season, including Judge Cuts - there's too much information here, and if listed, it would have to include auditions not televised on the programme.

Listing Judges by Their Casual Names

I don't know who, but there are several people that are listing AGT judges by their first names instead of their last names for every season after season 11. What's going on? Thissecretperson (talk) 21:34, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Serious question regarding Judges' Auditions filming location, post Season 10

I have a question regarding this subject. I recently went in to amend and redo the summaries of each season within Season Synopses, and beyond Season 10 I have one slight concern, if somewhat a questionable doubt, regarding the film location for Judges' auditions. The line below states this for the summary of Season 11:

"Filming of the judges' auditions took place in March 2016, prior to the premiere episode of the season, and were exclusively conducted within the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles."

My question is this - is that location mentioned in the sentence where they filmed such auditions, or was it where the Judges' Cuts was filmed? GUtt01 (talk) 14:27, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is the same location as auditions and where America's Got Talent: The Champions was filmed in October (Inside the theater, for AGT auditions, AGT Champions). From my research, I believe the Judge Cuts are filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood (Website with info about it, video with pictures from it). Hope that explains it to you well! Magitroopa (talk) 00:29, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
You know, if anyone could find evidence for this, it could be mentioned within the summary for Season 10 regarding where Judges' Cuts was filmed. GUtt01 (talk) 13:02, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

America's Got Talent (season 14)

Why isn't there an article for the upcoming season? I keep creating one, taking my time, make it all nice, and add it in the main page. JUST FOR IT TO BE DELETED!?! NOT HAPPY! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hraines46 (talkcontribs) 00:13, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Judges Tables

Please keep the judges table is chair order, it makes more sense that way. SportsFan007 (talk) 23:55, 27 February 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007

I suggest changing it to a table similar to The_Voice_(U.S._TV_series)#Coaches. --Hiwilms (talk) 09:27, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
I agree. SportsFan007 (talk) 07:35, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
I disagree - I think the current table looks fine, though it really should not be arranged by chair order, since that has caused disputes of late. GUtt01 (talk) 08:18, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
@GUtt01: Please provide proof of these disputes. SportsFan007 (talk) 08:33, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
Someone was adding in judges to those respective chairs, and other kept editing them out despite there being nothing to say that confirmed judges for a new season could not be added in. In addition, setting the table to a chair order is not what the table is for - it is for identifying who was the host and who were the judges for each respective season, not the chair order of judges. That's not the case for the table on the Britain's Got Talent article - despite it being coincidental in layout.GUtt01 (talk) 08:56, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
@GUtt01: Please stop reverting until a consensus is met, your format doesn’t make sense and is confusing. SportsFan007 (talk) 08:59, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
It is not confusing a layout - there is no relevance in knowing the chair order of judges, because that made the table a mess. The point of the table was to state who was involved in the respective role they were in, for each season. GUtt01 (talk) 09:01, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Ok, based on what you are saying, I think it makes more sense to have a timeline layout instead of the current chart layout. SportsFan007 (talk) 09:32, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
When you say that, do you mean it like the one for The_Voice_(U.S._TV_series)#Coaches? GUtt01 (talk) 09:35, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
@GUtt01: Yes that is correct. I am working on a timeline chart in my sandbox and will submit it here for approval when I am done. I’m sorry this whole thing started bad note, thank you!!! SportsFan007 (talk) 10:07, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007

I've taken a look, and to be honest I don't think it works so well. It just seems an excessive design, in my opinion - I happen to know that the article covering the British version of The Apprentice (UK TV series) has a similar arrangement for members involved in each season of the programme, but I have begun to question the presentation style of the table of late. GUtt01 (talk) 14:45, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Judges Table

I have an issue with the judges table in the Judges and Presenters section. Heidi Klum and Sharon Osbourne are in the same column, and this may lead people to think the Heidi was Sharon's replacement. However, that was not really the case. In 2013, it was first announced that Mel B would be the replacement for Sharon Osbourne. Heidi did not join until about two weeks after that. Therefore, Mel B and Sharon Osbourne should be in the same column as each other, and Heidi should be in the fourth judge column (the one with the 'N/A' at the top). Just a thought. 66.211.206.90 (talk) 19:41, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

What evidence do you have for this assertion? GUtt01 (talk) 20:21, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Just saying, the timeline chart I made eliminates this kind of dispute. SportsFan007 (talk) 23:20, 1 March 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
Heidi said that she was brought in as the fourth judge during the final episode of The Champions. It is available on YouTube. —Hiwilms (talk) 04:56, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Judges

@Magitroopa: Wouldn’t the split from Sharon Osborne into Mel and Hiedi indicate that it switched from three judges to four judges? SportsFan007 (talk) 05:11, 16 April 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007

@GUtt01: Please discuss here before making reverts. SportsFan007 (talk) 15:35, 16 April 2019 (UTC)SportsFan007
@SportsFan007: There hasn't been any consensus for the changes. Additionally, merging the fields for the 3rd and 4th judges, prior to the split, is confusing. GUtt01 (talk) 16:57, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

Infobox Judges/Host

With the amount of judges changes we've gotten over the years, do we think it's getting to that time to maybe get rid of all the old judges, and possible old hosts with that? As per MOS:TV, we could use the "starring" parameter instead of the judges one, and then just keep the current judges. It just seems a bit excessive listing every single judge, as it is getting a bit long. Plus, the judges for each season are already listed in the infobox for each season article as it is, plus there is already the judges chart later on down the page, so I think that is enough to list the old judges there rather than keeping them in the infobox too. Magitroopa (talk) 07:09, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Been a month since I asked about this- what do you think, @GUtt01:? Magitroopa (talk) 01:29, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Please add a timeline of AGT judges and hosts (below) to a new subsection of the 'judges and hosts' section (similar to the one on the article about American Idol):

Undone There is no acceptable reason for adding in this table to the article. It makes no sense to include it, when there is another table in the article with the exact same information and purpose! In addition, when this table was put in, it was inaccurate - it had it start at 6 to 20. Plus there has been no consensus from others to approve of this change. GUtt01 (talk) 17:21, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
No consensus is required if the change is unlikely to be contested. WP:BOLD applies to protected articles too. There is also no evidence of consensus against this change that is imminently obvious to an uninvolved editor like myself, please link to it should you be aware of it.
That being said, now that you're contesting it I shall leave you to hammer out a consensus. In the future I invite you to proactively close edit requests you contest. Melmann 17:41, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
I have to contest this request, because what the IP wanted was to put in a table, detailing how long a judge/host was within the program for (no.of seasons). The problem though is that requester failed to note that there is already a table detailing the same information already in the article. The section it was to be added in doesn't need a sub-section for it, because the text of information beneath the current table provides more detailed information about their appearance debuts and departures (dates, reasons for leaving, etc.).
Had I seen this edit request much sooner, I would have promptly contested it before it had been given the green light. GUtt01 (talk) 18:54, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Big Question - Post-Show

There is a consensus for the proposal to rename the "Post-show" section to "Related Programs" and that the information "Top-selling albums by former contestants" should be reassigned to the respective members in the table.

Should the Post-Show section be renamed "Related Programs", and the information "Top-selling albums by former contestants" be reassigned to the respective members in the table?

  • YES - It should be done.
  • NO - Should remain as is.

No- there is no parameter in Template:Infobox television for creative producer:
  • There is a parameter for creative director, creative_director, but none for creative producer(s)
  • The producer parameter is only for main producers that are actually listed as just producers (Ex: not for 'supervising producer' or 'co-executive producer')
Additionally, the only source that would actually be able to be used is the lasvegasmagazine article, as IMDb cannot be used as a source (see WP:RS/IMDB and WP:CITINGIMDB) nor can a non-verified Facebook/social media source. Magitroopa (talk) 23:51, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Just wanted to check in if there would be an objections to converting the table... With Template:Series overview, I'm not sure why we're using the custom table as opposed to using a standardized table. Would probably look similar to The Masked Singer (American TV series)#Series overview- don't think the contestant # would be necessary here, and may or may not include the # of episodes in each season, but otherwise would look similar to that.

Please feel free to let me know if changing this would be fine, I'd be more than happy to help/do this. Magitroopa (talk) 18:38, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

New sponsor

Probably best to wait for some official sources/confirmation for this, but it appears that Dunkin is no longer sponsoring (or is no longer the main sponsor) of AGT- new photo released today shows some Sonic cups instead. Magitroopa (talk) 23:09, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Wouldn't recommend that. Seating order is neither relevant or notable enough for this article; not even for every season article of the program.GUtt01 (talk) 22:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

For template - Current season

Here's a question, and this is important. Is it really necessary to create a wikilink to the current season thru a For template? It seems excessive and not very constructive use for this template, because of the fact that you would have to remove that season from the template afterwards when it has done broadcasting. I think it is more appropriate to only use it to link to the international franchise, and any other spin-offs, rather than a season of the program; if we imply that it is acceptable, someone might say "Hey! Why don't we list the other seasons as well?" GUtt01 (talk) 20:42, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Typo

My account is not autoconfirmed but I found a typo in the Second Round section. though the format for this stage has been change several times over the course of the program's history. See how it says change not changed? Any confirmed users, correct that

I'm not sure when or if i'll return here but nearly every season of AGT has overly long sentences (many sentences are short paragraphs) and excessive punctuation (commas, dashes, etc.) as well as the lack of references, which as an IP i can't fix on this specific article. Perhaps in time i'll work on some of the seasons. I'd appreciate if anyone with the time to remove unnecessary/additional wording that may be POV or Original Research throughout the 'AGT' franchise/seasons. I'm not looking to pick a fight nor getting accused of being uncivil. Thanks! 137.27.65.235 (talk) 18:17, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
