How is her name spelled in Hindi/Gujarati/Urdu? I've got the पटेल/પટેલ/پٹيل, but, alas, even after years of Hindi, names are something I've never found a resource for. In other words, what are the lengths of the vowels, etc.? My best guess would be: अमीशा et al. Khiradtalk 08:53, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why how her (and her brothers) name is derived is repeated again and again.

Rewrite

[edit]

If critics don't like her, we need a quote to prove it. I rewrote some tortuous and mangled prose. I also removed the rumor re her relationship with Vikram Bhatt. I don't think it is necessary and it's unreferenced. This is a living person and we must be careful. Zora 00:30, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoever put these rumours back, I've removed them again, based on the policy about biographical material of living persons. I've also re-written some POV material, tightened up the section describing her roles, and done a general copy edit. Accounting4Taste 17:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

Hey all. So what about moving it to "Ameesha Patel"? Aryan, do you have sources? And how do her last films credit her? We'll have to check that. ShahidTalk2me 22:06, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a source. I have read more about in magazine interviews. Since Ankahee's release her name has been spelt as Ameesha, earlier it was spelled as Ameesha in Mangal Pandey & Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai. Aryan1992 (talk) 11:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's a great problem since there is no one formal name change. In TPTM, it's only "Ameesha", without Patel, so what? Will we now change it to simply Ameesha? Google search shows pretty much the same number of results for both spellings. IMDb still cites her as Amisha Patel. If you you make a quick google news search about her, both spellings are used occasionally. I'm a bit confused now. ShahidTalk2me 14:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK here is another source, she says its still Ameesha Patel but she wanted it to appear as Ameesha for the film only. Its occasionally spelt Ameesha, very few websites spell it as Amisha. You get to find more news when you search for Ameesha than Amisha. Many websites & newspapers (such as Bollywood Hungama, Mid-Day, Times of India, Mumbai Mirror, etc) spell as Ameesha now. Its no longer Amisha. Aryan1992 (talk) 17:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
News as news. Her main page on indiaFM still has her as Amisha. I don't know when and where it was changed exactly, but I want to know what the status of the name is according to her and whether she changed it officially. Sonu Nigam is an example of someone who changed his surname, but is still credited with the original spelling. Have you seen all her films since Anakhee, Aryan?
I don't think it's a big deal really. I think if it's the correct spelling of her name currently, definitely we'll request a move. However, I think we need to be sure it is really the case. ShahidTalk2me 18:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Bollywood Hungama still states Rani Mukerji as Rani Mukherjee even though she changed it. But when they post her news on the site they credit her as Mukerji, same for Ameesha who is credited with this spelling on the website. She has changed it officialy, I had her interview from Ahlan! Masala magazine from 2005 (during the release of Mangal Pandey) I think and she confirmed that her name was always spelt as Ameesha but some people spelt it wrong. Yes, I've seen every film of hers from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai to Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (apart from Pudhiya Geethai) and I have those films I mentioned where her name spelling was changed so I'm sure about it. I think her name spelling of her name was officialy changed with Mangal Pandey, the first film that credited her as Ameesha. After that only a few movies such as Teesri Aankh and Tathastu spelt is as Amisha, but from Ankahee her name was never spelt Amisha again. Now people rarely spell it as Amisha, you can see that in every interview of hers with newspapers or magazines its spelt Ameesha. Aryan1992 (talk) 19:54, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK thank you Aru. I agree to the move. ShahidTalk2me 14:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It says she was born in a Gujurati family but in an interview her mother Asha Patel is a self-described "Sindhi Punjabi" (while the father is indeed Gujurati), so I guess it should be put in the main article/bio and also the categories should include "Sindhi people" and "Punjabi people" as well, here's the source (interview of her mother) : [1]

Not done: unfortunately, the presented source is not good enough for a WP:BLP article. The most reliable source I could find describes her as a "Gujarati actress".[2] M.Bitton (talk) 15:29, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
