Dear Sir,
Although not a toolmaker myself I was (retired) a "general" maintenance engineer and spent time at sea as a marine engineer officer )11 years). At the end of my career I worked with toolmakers at an aero industry factory. I felt I had to contact you and express my feelings for what has happened lately. I am absolutely disgusted at what Starmer has done to the proud and exalted trade of toolmaker. Due to his stupid idea of using his father an "example" of a simple working man, because of his inane idea that it would give him favour with the electorate he has made the general public look on the trade as a laughing stock. And this man is supposed to be the leader of our once proud country. As such I believe that you would have the right to take him to court for the denagration of the profession. A union taking a labour prime minister to court would certainly make heads turn and go some way to correcting the record of the position of toolmakers.
Yours faithfully,
Geoff Smith. 89.242.112.167 (talk) 07:00, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
