A little help?

im tring to add the like to the band not the engine part, know what i mean? its under pop culture infulence,i had it but it said (band) after it and it looked dumb so i tried to use the 'hidden comment' deal and that didnt work either,im gunna put it back to 'Clutch (band)' even though it look dumb. 4tildes4:34pm7/5/2007 nevermind i fingered it out 4tildes2:17pm7/6/2007

A Bit Of Editing

I just simply added a break between the description and the characters ( give my own long descriptions, along with new pictures). I also removed the "tone" tag too, since I've read and I haven't seen anything wrong with the tone about the Chipmunks, such as the other who took it out before me. If you're going to, at least explain WHY you think it is and fix it yourself instead of tagging it. WHAT The too much trivia tag I removed too, since it only explains the Pop culture influence, is part of the article, and is not "too much" either. Seriously. I did some minor edits, capitalized a few things, but otherwise nothing more.

Is it realy necessary to mention that Bagdasarian Sr. and his son did the voice for the 4 characters on each of the character descriptions as well as the description at the top of the page. If you think it realy needs mentioned again then why not put a note at the beginning or end of the character list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.14.203.32 (talk) 05:06, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Talk of a movie

There was in late September 2004 talk of a CGI/live action motion picture in the works through 20th Century Fox. The reader might want to check out this news article and this discussion. I take it the Bagdasarians prevailed in their case against Universal? - knoodelhed 08:27, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I agree that seems likely... but I haven't been able to find any announcements to confirm. I'm a little concerned the movie will turn out to be vapor (or, worse, be unwatchable)... If you can find a press release or other documentation that the lawsuit is over, that would be helpful. JRP

Maybe there should be some discussion of the speeded-up vocal technique and its use in recordings by artists like The Goons, Pinky and Perky and Sweety the Chick. Lee M 22:56, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Since the movie has recently been confirmed, does anyone think there is a possibly of a return of either The Alvin Show or Alvin & the Chipmunks; or (preferably) both? 208.27.124.172 22:54, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Merge

The article List of songs by Alvin and the Chipmunks was nominated for deletion. The debate was closed on 27 November 2005 with a consensus to merge the content into the article associated with this talk page. If the merger is not completed promptly, List of songs by Alvin and the Chipmunks might be re-nominated for deletion.

To discuss the merger, please use this talk page.

  • I carried out this merge per AfD consensus. The highly incomplete list of songs was partly redundant with the list of singles, so I instead merged the extended covers info to those. IMO, there ware way too many AS&T songs to fit on the main page, so a list is warranted—if someone recreated a comprehensive one, I'd vote to keep for sure. The Chipmunks' Background

Can someone write a section on the Chipmunks' background? The Chipettes have one, so why not Alvin and the gang? - NES Boy 21:47, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Removed "tone" marker

I don't see much wrong with the "tone" of this article about fictional singing special-effects rodents. If you do see something wrong, fix it, and forego the hifalutin marker. Ortolan88 17:43, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Copyvios

The bios of The Chipmunks (and The Chipettes) look like they were ripped from the Chipmunks website (http://www.chipmunks.com/bios.php). Can somebody check this article and other related articles (Alvin and the Chipmunks (TV series), The Chipettes, etc.)? --Geopgeop 05:30, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Lonely

† Does anyone know if that's The Chipmunks featured with Akon in Mr. Lonely if it that was just done with a computer?

I think it was just the original (Bobby Vinton) sped up. -- JaffaCakeLover 18:41 28 January 2007 (GMT)

Pitch-shifting as part of Pop Culture Influence?

Proposed addition for pop culture influences section:

William A. Dembski utilized pitch-shifting his own voice to produce a flash animation attacking Judge John E. Jones III. There is crossover with the influence of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, as the animation features a lot of flatulence as well.

See this section of Dembski's talk page for more details. --Wesley R. Elsberry 17:55, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Name of the group

In case this info might be of use...

On the very first record (the "Chipmunk Song" single in its original issue, Liberty F-55168) the artist was credited as "The Chipmunks, Alvin, Theodore & Simon, with The Music Of David Seville." (David Seville's non-Chipmunk singles usually listed the artist as "The Music Of David Seville." (That's also the title of his first album, pre-Chipmunks.) (Several Chipmunk singles had non-Chipmunk Seville B-sides.)

For a while afterwards, the credit said "David Seville And The Chipmunks." Starting in 1961, it said, "Alvin, Simon & Theodore With David Seville." (In fact, The Alvin Show album does not use the Chipmunks name at all, and some early 1980s vinyl reissues again list the artist on the label as "Alvin, Simon & Theodore With David Seville," and not "The Chipmunks." (On most of the later singles, it's a compromise: "The Chipmunks, Alvin, Simon & Theodore With David Seville.")

I don't think "Alvin & The Chipmunks" was ever used in the original (Bagdasarian, Sr.) incarnation of the Chipmunks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.3.67.138 (talk) 05:07, 21 March 2007 (UTC).

Fictional Native Americans?

Not sure how someone figured Dave Seville (and by extension, the Chipmunks) had some Native American in them? WAVY 10 19:59, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

I'll remove the article from the category, unless the anon. cares to discuss why the article was put there --Firetrap (talkcontribs) 10:59, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Chipmunks1990s.jpg

Image:Chipmunks1990s.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Birth Order

In the "character" section, Alvin is referred to as "the middle brother." Yet in the "clarification", Alvin says "I've never been alone! Except for those first few minutes before Simon was born." If Alvin was born first, that makes him the oldest, n'est ce pas? Nickrz 13:41, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed it too. I changed it to show that he's the oldest (assuming that's correct). -adavidw 08:04, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

uh, HELLOOOOO? Simon's the oldest. How would a middle child be taller than an oldest? does that make any sense? Hence, Alvin must be the middle child. His personality clearly fits it. -User:thegreatandpowerfulsimonseville —Preceding comment was added at 20:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Alvin is the the oldest —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.116.64.3 (talk) 06:27, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Just because someone is the tallest (and the most responsible) doesn't actually mean they're the eldest. WikiLubber (talk) 00:06, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

The Chipettes to be merged here

In line with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Chipettes, The Chipettes should be merged with this page. I hope someone who knows something about the subject will perform the move, or otherwise I will have to do it and I know next to nothing. Sam Blacketer 21:51, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Politics

I remember an episode of the cartoon that dealt with the lives of families on opposite sides of the Berlin wall. Did this happen often and what was the reaction to political charged elements of the show? --Wolfrider 03:46, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Article needs work

I added the Template:Fiction to the article, as most of the article refers to the chipmunks as actual people. This, in addition to the unencylclopedic tone of the article and the already noted lack of citations leaves much to be desired. Especially with a feature film on the way, this article could use quite a bit of help. Iarann (talk) 06:02, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Lawsuit

Under "The Chipmunks' future" the article states that a lawsuit has been filed against Thomas Lee. It then says the lawsuit is likely to fail because of fair use. I am new at this but that seems to be an opinion and impermissible under Wikipedia policy. I would change it but I don't know how to. --(I also don't know how to sign properly but I am doing the best I can) -- JLowe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.86.184.244 (talk) 15:09, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Give Simon more credit!

It bothers me how when people talk about the chipmunks, they go "There's Alvin and Theodore and... Oh Yes!...uh...what's the tall, dorky one's name again?" I mean, god. Give the poor guy some credit, willya? I mean, look what he has to live with-Alvin. The slightly insane troublemaker. Yikes.--thegreatsimonseville —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thegreatandpowerfulsimonseville (talkcontribs) 21:51, 20 February 2008 (UTC) Give Theodore some respect he is so cute and he is just as good as his brothers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.76.202.114 (talk) 20:28, 21 February 2008 (UTC) I know. I feel ya. Alvin has a gigantic ego- he's self-centered and an egomaniac- and NO WONDER. Simon and Theodore are just as good (if not better) singers as Alvin! -thegreatandpowerfulsimonseville

I don't see how this has anything to do with the article. The talk section is used only to discuss the article, not a general discussion of the article's topic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mynameisnotpj (talkcontribs) 02:12, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
