[edit]I set this page up for another editor who wants to create this article - which is why I put the {{construction}} template on there. Would appreciate it if the page was left up until the other editor gets some content in there, which I expect will be very soon. Thanks Tvoz/talk 06:48, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Question regarding Jon Marks
[edit]On the Magicat website for Davies' first album, Jon Marks is listed as Jon Mark. I believe the same is true on Sweet Thursday. Are we missing something and making a mistake in his name? --leahtwosaints (talk) 07:36, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Jon Mark, not Marks and the Welsh/Cornish mystery
[edit]Hi there, I've been checking some interesting stuff lately.
First: Jon Mark is the Cornish guy who formed the Mark-Almond Band, and former schoolfriend of Alun's; Jon Marks (please, check it out on Wikipedia) was a Dixieland piano player who actually died in year 2007, and he has nothing to do with Alun.
Second: I was a member of the Majicat board, and everyone I spoke to always referred to Alun being a Welshman. There is also a 1972 article by the Melody Maker featured on the Majicat site (you can check this one too) which states that Alun's Welsh.
The odd thing is that, having been a childhood friend of Jon Mark's, Alun must have some connections with Cornwall: I mean, either Mark was born in Cornwall and then moved to Wales or it's just the other way round, with Alun being born in Wales and then growing up in Cornwall, otherwise it can't work!
By now, I'll stick to Melody Maker and keep referring to Alun as a Welshman (his name is evidently Welsh indeed), but I'll soon ask Alun directly, since I've just signed to his MySpace and hope to catch him there. Then you'll know where Alun actually hails from, town included. See ya! --Gianmaria Framarin (talk) 04:24, 14 September 2008 (GMT)
4 solo albums or three?
[edit]Davies is listed by Harris at All-music Guide here: [1] as having a 3rd album, Waste of Time (1972) wedged between what I thought was the 2nd and third albums he completed before working with Cat Stevens. And I thought Daydo was released about 1972. [shrug] I'd tend to believe the nearly worshipful Magicat site which was the result of a scrapbook of a fan -replete with articles for facts before Answers.com. How to know? Allmusic reviewers aren't exactly known for checking facts etc. in my opinion. Which is right? --leahtwosaints (talk) 02:58, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
please don't
[edit]Please, don't leave references in the infobox. Unless it can't be helped, it's not where they go. --leahtwosaints (talk) 09:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with File:Hopkins Davies Mark Burns Odgers.jpg
[edit]The image File:Hopkins Davies Mark Burns Odgers.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
