The Sign
[edit]You know the one I'm talking about. Does anyone else think it's worthy of including in the wiki? It might not paint the prettiest picture but it's diffenetly one of the main things people know about Altha and seems worthy of mention to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.35.163.210 (talk) 03:09, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi, north Florida local here. That sign, as far as I can tell, is a myth. The fella who wrote the book about it is outright despised around here, apparently he went around local towns and made things up, according to old folks I've spoken to. I couldn't find any evidence the sign ever existed, everyone I asked agreed it's a myth. As far as I can find, he got kicked out of town after a drunken bender, when he tried to grope a married woman, this is according to the woman who ran the Public School's library around 2015. Would need to look for any court documents or newspapers to confirm this rumor, best bet is probably the Calhoun-Liberty Journal. If I remember, I'll go to the courthouse and ask around for any legal papers on it after the Coronavirus ends. Cheers. Kellenbeck (talk) 22:38, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
