This page, and the pages connected to it should not be deleted. They are put online to give more information about a rapidly growing band from Tucson, AZ. In addition to providing more information about the band, this page has compiled a list of releases by the band. This is intended to show fans where they can get more of this band's music. Which in turn provides more support for the band.
While Alter der Ruine indeed translates to Age of the ruin, it should be noted that the perceived English meaning (Age as in Era, Ruin as in Devastation) is not the one the German words confer: That would simply mean the number of years that a specific (damaged) building has existed. So for a native German speaker, that bandname sounds quite boring and has no notion of the "coolness" the band has probably envisioned. --ComradeMicha (talk) 10:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a native German speaker (from Switzerland), I can confirm this. Even if the band was aware that "Ruine" means a derelict building and not "ruin" in the sense of destruction, devastation ("ruin" in that sense is spelled "Ruin" without -e in German), I'm not sure that they intended to name their band "The derelict building's duration of existence". "Age" in the sense of "era" would bei "Zeitalter" or "Ära" in German. So, if you want to translate "Age of Ruin" into German, the correct result would be "Zeitalter des Ruins", "Ära des Ruins", or more bombastic: "Zeitalter des Verderbens" or the like.
