Grinner, what an awful picture ! (sorry) - isn't there a PD one looking past the Stone to the south?? (But thanks for doing the box :-) Bob aka Linuxlad

Malvern Hills

[edit]

The stated visibility of Malvern Hills removed. An examination of the online OS mapping shows that a direct line from Alport Height to the Worcestershire Beacon cross the high ground of CLent Hills, Walton Hill and Romsey Hill. https://www.udeuschle.de/panoramas/makepanoramas_en.htm which generates panoramas for specified locations shows the Four Stones, Walton Hill and Romsey Hill, but nothing further in that direction. An alternative source, RadioMobile https://www.ve2dbe.com/ which shows curved earth paths intended for radio transmissions, also shows that direct sight of Malvern is blocked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bivier (talkcontribs) 15:03, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No mention at viewfinderpanoramas.org either – the only Peak summits shown as visible from Worcestershire Beacon are Shutlingsloe, Axe Edge, The Roaches and Merryton Low. I drew a dead straight line (using Bing Maps' measuring tool and the Ordnance Survey overlay) between the summit of North Hill in the Malverns (397m) to Alport Height (314m) and there's nothing bang on that line that's higher than the latter – but it goes very close to the summit of the Clent Hills (315m).
