Is this complete BS?

[edit]

This page is terrible. It says he is an "accused" spy at the top, without ever saying his accuser. Later the article says, "Rosenberg was a member of the Perlo group of Soviet spies during World War II," which doesn't sound like an accusation, but a statement of fact. The first line starts "Witt was succeeded by ..." with no explanation. Witt? Who? It reads like a badly-cropped quote with no context. If there is a substantial charge anywhere, please indicate it. A simple googling does not turn up anything other than quotes of this article (and lots of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg stories, of course.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:184:4200:BA0:28D5:EFF1:BC21:88FE (talk) 21:26, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with the unsigned commenter above. There seems to be no source to verify that Harold Ware of the Ware Group was successed by Allan Rosenberg. When Ware died in an auto accident, J. Peters had Whittaker Chambers replace him as local overseer/minder and also as courier between the Ware Group in Washington and the Soviet underground's main operations in New York City – recounted in many books on the Hiss Case. Chambers testified that John Abt and others acted for Ware among its members as local "leader." The group began to split when Hiss joined the Nye Committee. The Soviet closed down these people when Chambers defected in 1938. Some members appear to have joined groups run by Jacob Golos (succeeded by Elizabeth Bentley). Where does Rosenberg fit into any of that? --Aboudaqn (talk) 20:54, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
