Year of establishment?

If it was established in 1980, why does the graph go back to 1875? — This, that and the other (talk) 04:34, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The corresponding article on the German Wikipedia indicates that although the All Ordinaries was established in 1980, the values were calculated back to 1938 (daily prices) and 1875 (monthly prices).
