Snow and weather in the Andes
[edit]I am removing the folowing parenthetical phrase: (the Andes mountains are not usually covered in snow. The weather at the time was the roughest the Andes ever experienced). The plane crashed on a glacier at an altitude of about 12,000 feet. There are dozens of large glaciers in the Andes and also gigantic snowfields. Snow is common at 12,000 feet almost anywhere in the world. Although the weather was bad at the time of the crash, it was actually spring in the Andes, and no one would have survived in those conditions if the weather was "the roughest the Andes ever experienced". Ethnic criticism
[edit]I don´t think the ethnic criticism makes a lot of sense. Nobody criticized the choice of Russel Crowe for the leading role of "Gladiator", even not being an italian, and I could give much other examples, like Charlton Heston, who played a spaniard in "El Cid". The hispanics are also caucasians, and many spanish, like the galicians and the asturians have celtic or visigothic origin. Many spanish or hispanics also have blonde hair and blue eyes. Some actors in the movie "Alive" have italian or hispanic origins, look at Vincent Spano. They were choose because they looked like the real carachters. Mistico (talk) 15:38, 10 December 2007
Ethnic criticism II
[edit]I was born in Uruguay and lived there 32 years. There's no such a thing like Central European = richs vs. South European=poors. Almost everybody is european descendant and that is for everybody is immigrant descendant; most of immigrants were poor and hard workers anywhere they came from. I've grew up in a middle class family and all of my friends from Elemental School to University, neighbours, collegues, etc., had German, French as well as Italian or Spanish origins. Of course there are much more Italians and Spanish but they are not from less privilege social classes while privilege ones are from other origins. Passengers of that plane were (are) an elite, yes; so it's no representative of Uruguayan society, no. But not because of their names or skin colors, just because. Parrado, Fernández, Pérez del Castillo, Delgado, Platero, Páez-Rodríguez, Inciarte are Spanish names; Sabella, Canessa, Zerbino, Magri, Turcatti are Italian names; others are from other European countries, so? If there were Strauch or François it's just a coincidence. It IS representative of Uruguayan demography, it is not representative of the whole society because they were an elite but they are not an elite for theirs origins; their privilege social positions has nothing to do with geography or eyes colour. Fair use rationale for Image:Alive-dvd cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Alive-dvd cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot section?
[edit]While most current film articles have overly detailed (sometimes more than is necessary) plot sections, this article doesn't. And I think it really needs one. Anyone with a copy of the DVD wanna take a shot at it? Shrumster (talk) 16:19, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Bigfoot
[edit]According to Bigfoot researcher Todd Standing, the film crew had to leave an area known as “the bugaboos” in BC because they were chased out by Bigfoot. They had to finish the movie in France. 2601:602:87F:4100:A93D:2B87:B709:9207 (talk) 02:26, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
