What's needed
[edit]Any history of Yoko from Last Order... I tried to avoid major spoilers. New techniques from Last Order. Or really, anything from Last Order. Imaginos body from Last Order. Grammar and tense checks, perhaps.
New section ideas. Maybe one on the movie version if we see it soon. Um that's all I can think of for now. Showdown 09:25, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Imaginos Body added =)--Psiweapon 18:19, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Good start :) Going to be a LONG time before I get any LO read :\.Showdown 09:34, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
just a remark
[edit]"Alita (known as "Gally" in Japan)" Possibly more accurate would be "Gally (known as "Alita" in North America")"?
It doesn't really matter too much to me, but I was trying to think of how non-North American readers would hear this comment. I did notice "Gally" redirects to Alita though, good job on that.
- I just did that because it was like that on the other BAA pages. I don't know what wiki convention for US vs world anime names is actually. 169.232.132.41 19:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think it needs to be made more clear that Gally is her original name, and that Alita is a creation of the English translation. Marshall Stax (talk) 09:06, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
At least here in Spain it's known as Alita. Maybe because we first got it through Viz... the new edition and Last Order both use the original names and the title Gunnm, but the name "alita" has stuck a lot more. By the way, I find Alita a name much nicer, it means "little wing" in spanish =O Psiweapon 18:19, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Personnaly, I hate those renaming: it's not the artist's intent. It's also screw up international exchange. Xenophobic marketing of the 90'… I also hate dubbing. The James Cameron movie sux before is made because I already know that ガリィ will be recalled Alita! Lacrymocéphale 09:51, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Contention with Sechs' Bio
[edit]In the third paragraph of the Sechs bio, it states:
"Sechs alone successfully killed AR-1, AR-3, AR-4, AR-5, AR-7, AR-8, and AR-9. This is especially interesting because Sechs, unlike AR-2, has all the emotions Alita has (which were the reason Alita nearly lost to AR-2)."
I don't think it's accurate to say that Sechs has "all the emotions Alita has". First, I've never read an indication in any of the books that Alita and the AR units were the same apart from their looks and fighting capabilities. Bigot clearly stated that Tiphares used Alita to get solid data on her combat style, that's it. The final test was to see if Alita's past experiences (since they already had her combat data, this would imply her memories, emotions, personality, etc.) would allow her to prevail in combat and thus remain a viable sample.
As evidenced by Zwolf and Elf as well as Sechs, the AR units developed personalities entirely on their own. The fact that Sechs is also trying to find meaning in life through combat in no way means she/he has the same emotions that Alita does. In fact, this would be impossible because a person's emotions stem from their personality and personality develops as a direct result a person's memories. It's like saying that twins have the same emotions or that a clone of yourself will grow up having the same emotions.
It'd be better if this segment of the bio was revised or removed because it implies that Sechs and Alita have the same personality (which they obviously don't) and that Sechs managed to beat the other AR units using the Panzer Kunst (which he didn't). Sechs developed his own fighting style to defeat the other AR units, the Sechster Angriff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.210.229.37 (talk) 18:42, June 27, 2007 (UTC)
Sechs' gender
[edit]There has to be some degree of consistency when referring to Sechs although as has been pointed out, his/her gender is currently ambiguous. Still it will avoid having to use s/he all the time. BrokenSphereMsg me 02:24, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

- For what it's worth, on Kishiro's site, Sechs is listed on the female characters' page, whereas the new Sechs (with the new body acquired during the ZOTT) is listed among the male characters. So Sechs appears to be a "he", now. Erigu (talk) 21:29, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Time for a disambiguation page?
[edit]Move this page to something like Alita (cyborg) or Alita (character) and turn this into a dab page that points to the 3 current Alita possibilities? --BrokenSphereMsg me 02:58, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Merge template
[edit]I notice this has been tagged with a merge template suggesting the article be merged with a "list of characters". I don't think this is a particularly good idea since Alita is the starring character of these comics and her importance eclipses other characters. Alita is no Spiderman in popularity of course but I think this would be akin to merging "Spiderman" into "List of Spiderman characters". Regardless of her importance the resulting article would just be a mess. --A scientist (talk) 13:44, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
