An IP user (79.XXX.XXX.XXX) has been removing info from the page. Specifically, he removed a sentence saying the city Hinton lives in, the name of Hinton's wife, and... HINTON'S MIDDLE NAME??? This seems a bit odd. As I write this the edits have been reverted three times (the most recent of which was me). Wilh3lmGo here to trout me if I do a stupid23:24, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are cases where the subjects of a biographical article are heavily invested in said article, going as far as to create the article of themselves, or otherwise heavily editing it in their own favor. I do not think the former is the case in this situation, but I cannot promise you the unfeasibility of the latter.
Looking at this IP's edit history, I see a lot of edits relating to Sorabji and the people who work with the Sorabji Archive, such as Powell, Bowyer, Hamelin, and Carlo Grante. The second option you list is certainly possible. Wilh3lmGo here to trout me if I do a stupid10:03, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Update: it happened again. Curiously, the IP user didn't bother removing the citation for Hinton's middle name.
After the fourth revert, user @John Yunshire (who reverted it) left a message on the IP's talk page. The IP is confirmed to be Hinton himself, meaning we have a major WP:COI and possibly WP:BLPPRIVACY concerns. He requested the discussion be done via email too, rather than on Wikipedia talk pages.
Update: a user by the name of Ryon has removed the sentence with Hinton's wife's name and hometown, citing privacy and that it is unnecessary. Once again, no discussion on the talk page. I suggest that he review the links above, and that talk page discussion is done until consensus is reached. If Hinton wants to appear and explain why he chose to remove the information in the first place, I am open to discussion here. Wilh3lmTalk20:11, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, reverted already. Brand-new IP user, immediately jumps to this article with an edit summary suggesting at least familiarity with the situation. Also admitted to being Hinton ("my page"). More WP:COI issues of course. @Reshadp has already put a message on the IP's talk page (no response) as well as getting one on his talk page from the IP. Wilh3lmTalk22:07, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
