help!

[edit]

Hi - I've made some edits. I hope this will help with the flags. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Notgrrly (talkcontribs) 23:57, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I've added more citations in as that seemed to be the main problem, I think. I'm trying to track down citations for a couple other lines under Awards, Appointments, etc. Are there other things I need to fix? Also, I'm trying to figure out how to upload a photo - it seems complicated. Nothing is really coming through on the Flickr link suggested, but I can track down another that's copyright free. how can i fix these problems? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindsetmedia (talkcontribs) 17:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Which problems do you refer to? Do you mean the conflict-of-interest concerns? I will happily help you out. I first created Alison Lawton after expanding her husband's article. A good start would be to first read these links...In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Canuckle 04:08, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another good essay is Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance . Canuckle 04:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hi. I work directly with Alison Lawton and she has requested that I spearhead the description on her wikipedia page. Is it possible that we take the whole page off and post a new one? Start a new one? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindsetmedia (talkcontribs) 02:05, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about we start with what you think is wrong with the small bit that I wrote about her? We call it a "stub" because it's so short. To have a biography on Wikipedia, the person needs to be notable (click on that link to check out the criteria) and the facts have to be verifiable by WP:reliable sources. News media have reported on her inspiring her husband's philanthropy and her film production. However, all those other accomplishments listed in her official bio on her site(s) aren't backed up by independent sources. For instance, I searched for confirmation that she is chair of the JFK advisory board but could not find confirmation. Without verification, I'm not going to leave it there. We can use her official corporate bio to verify some facts about her, but not to promote her accomplishments or causes. Her Wikipedia bio can't be spam. So what can you do? If you want to make edits yourself, read all the above policies thoroughly. If it's important to Lawton, it's important to do it right. If you're not going to invest your time to do so, you will make missteps, you won't be respected by the Wikipedia community and you'll end up damaging Lawton's reputation instead of enhancing it. You can also make suggestions on this Talk page. For instance, what specific improvements do you actually want to see? List them. Does Lawton have a clippings file of newspaper stories about her that back up the information? If so, post the links so that we can check them out and add them if we feel they pass muster. Hi, these are some clippings file of newspaper stories about Alison Lawton. Right now, we do not have any online stories that can back up the information about her being the chair of the JFK advisory board. We are willing to take that off. other than that, is that anything else we have to change? please let us know. this is important to Lawton and she does want to do it right. Please help and advice. thank you

HI, can you please give us some feedback please. We want to fix this problem, but we need help. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindsetmedia (talkcontribs) 17:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, we are trying to fix this page. Can someone please give us some help? Is it possible that we start from scratch? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindsetmedia (talkcontribs) 18:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tell us what you think is wrong with it. Someguy1221 (talk) 22:26, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing is wrong with it. can you please just take off the flags? I think we've made all the changes already. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.81.149.234 (talk) 23:11, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I work for Alison Lawton. I believe we have followed all the "rules" and made a lot of changes. Can you please take off the "flags"? Alison is very upset. Please let me know what I can do to fix the page in order to take the flags off. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.81.149.234 (talk) 23:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the article in its current state, the obvious problem is the wording. It appears to have been written in an unecessesarily verbose tone that glorifies Lawton in violation of neutral point of view. The third paragraph of "Social entrepeneur" also needs third-party sources to show that it's both verifiable and worth mentioning. I'll look at this in more detail when I have the time. Someguy1221 (talk) 23:34, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks a lot for the quick reply. In the mean time, can you please deflag the site while we work on it together behind the scene? Alison is really upset. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mindsetmedia (talkcontribs) 23:37, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Articles are untagged only after the tagged problem has been resolved, whether the subject (who really should have no input into this article) is upset or not. I am satisfied that the peacock terms have been removed, and I have removed the tag. --CliffC (talk) 01:25, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given that any of the contested content (regarding the neutrality of the contributor to the article) which caused this page to be tagged in the first place has been effectively removed at this point and further, because of the fact that the article currently posted has already been corrected - would it be possible to remove the "conflict of interest" flag associated with this page? Hi, we are currently trying to fix the Alison Lawton page. Can someone please give us some help? Can we please start from scratch? Thanks

I see the content has been rewritten to suit the communication style and protocol for Wikipedia. It is interesting that the flags remain. I am curious if the original user/editor must remove these or if another user/editor/contributor can. Comments? Suggestions? Thanks. Neutrality

[edit]

I can see that efforts have been made to improve the tone and neutrality of this article. To this end I hope to be able to remove the NPOV tags if nobody objects? John Gibbard (talk) 19:21, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some Proposed Changes

[edit]

Veronica87654321 (talk) 23:04, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. The linked wikipedia article makes it clear she is notable as a model and actress, and says nothing about her being a philanthropist. Make any changes there first. The one source provided here still talks about her notability as a model. Melcous (talk) 05:12, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Changes have been made on Patricia's wikipedia article to highlight her philanthropic involvement. Could you please update the sentence on Alison's page? Thank you. Veronica87654321 (talk) 18:20, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
