Genre
[edit]DISCUSSION OF BAND'S GENRE HERE Please note: Until there is a general consensus about the band's genre, please refrain from changing it on the wiki.
Proof of "Thrash" genre:
- Lead singer & guitarist Lewis de Jong, “but we were drawn to thrash metal because it’s quite complex music, and it is a great vehicle for expressing real stories and emotions.” - source http://www.freemanpromotions.com/artist/alien-weaponry/
- revolvermag.com - consensus of thrash: https://www.revolvermag.com/music/alien-weaponry-7-reasons-why-teen-maori-thrash-trio-your-favorite-new-band
- Also, if you look on http://www.alienweaponry.com there is "thrash" everywhere. While they may have several genres that influence them and borrow techniques, it's still mainly a thrash band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barry Manilo (talk • contribs) 20:23, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- I prefer the more generic "thrash metal" or even just "metal" to "groove metal". I don't think they should be pigeonholed with bands like Pantera. Fact is they have a distinctive style, incorporating elements of Maori haka and waiata. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 22:52, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Maori ancestry
[edit]Brothers Henry and Lewis de Jong do have Maori ancestry, but the bassist Ethan Trembath doesn't. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.157.73.108 (talk) 04:19, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Yes he does. So does their new bass player. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 22:54, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
