Dates of service as Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland
[edit]Buchan-Smith was Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland prior to 18 February 1975 - The Glasgow Herald 12 February 1975 article I have cited makes clear he held this position under Ted Heath - I will look over the next few days to see if I can get an exact date for when he took office. - I have now established with a reference that he held the post from March 1974, as The Times Guide to the House of Commons October 1974 states that he became Chief opposition spokesman on Scotland at that date. Dunarc (talk) 19:24, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
