Agree The two screenwriters do seem to be the same person, and it seems reasonable to merge.

W.r.t to the novelist - if those pages that are incorrectly linking to either of the screenwriter entries then they could be replaced with this: Alfredo Varela (novelist) [es] which gives a redlink and makes it clear that there it is a separate person. (I didn't feel confident enough to do this myself)
