British or British-American

[edit]

Mainly to J Milburn, I think he should be described as British-American unless you can find evidence that he never took US citizenship, considering that he spent the last 50 years of his life in the US. Unfortunately I have not found any decent bio information on him, maybe someone else can. (I will try an email to Purdue, one never knows.) Ldm1954 (talk) 14:22, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ldm1954: Surely the burden of proof falls on those making a claim, not those questioning it? But I don't have a horse in this race; I was just trying to bring some consistency between article and categories. Josh Milburn (talk) 12:20, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @J Milburn,
The original version said nothing about his nationality (and was awful). @I dream of horses it appears changed this to English. For certain he was an "American academic" as he was Faculty at Purdue; from what I have seen the category depends upon where they teach, but I might be wrong. To me British-American is most NPOV unless someone finds more info on him.
N.B., since he did his primary education in France, he might have a third nationality.... Ldm1954 (talk) 12:46, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like I say, I've no particular view on this. There'll be a guideline or policy or something in the MOS; best to follow whatever that says, but I don't know where it is! Josh Milburn (talk) 15:29, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
