Dodgy behaviour
[edit]Private Eye and other publications have for years been reporting alleged dodgy business practices used by Best/Wydlecrest This article appears to whitewash the issues, presumably due to concerns regarding BLP. The most recent example is in issue 1511 of PE, dated 13-20 December 2019, p. 37. 51.9.10.114 (talk) 15:00, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Contributions/51.9.10.114:: No whitewashing has attempted here. Some additions by certain users have not been helpful, however I check back here every few months to keep the order. If you know of any reliable sources (see WP:RS) which talk about Mr Best, feel free to add them. I feel that the subject is notable enough to be included, however his coverage by reliable sources is hard to come across. Controversy should not be the main focus of a article subject unless that is what the article is solely about. Sadly sometimes this is the only in-volume press coverage some subjects get, which despite being a negative is actually a positive at the same time as it can actually help in proving notability. I certainly do not want this article deleted and believe him to be a notable businessman and member of the travelling community. The coverage of travellers is very limited on Wiki unfortunately, largely due to the lack notability outside their own community. Mr Best is an exception to this. I believe disproportionate negative coverage is not in the spirit of Wikipedia. Again, if you know of any reliable, published sources of Mr Best or Wyldecrest Parks, feel free to add them to their respective articles.UaMaol (talk) 01:58, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have seen no disproportionate comments. Alfred William Best`s notoriety comes fromn well and accurately documented trading malprtacices including the defruading the often vulnerable elderly, some of these events referred to in the March 2020 Panorama programme The Mobile Homes Swindle. [edit]A very recent editor called User:Alfiebestsnr has removed well sourced content of a controversial nature labelling it "false information". This wouldn't be the first instance in this articles history that similar has been blanked. Investigating. UaMaol (talk) 09:10, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
