BMX World Champion?

[edit]

I have removed a dubious claim that Wurz have won the 1986 BMX World Championship as mentioned in Talk:Bicycle motocross#Reason of removal of a listed BMXer as I can find nothing at all, plus personal sites are not reliable third party source. Peugot le mans career under F1 title

[edit]

Alex's lemans career with peugot on this page is listed under the heading of F1. Surely this is incorrect and it should be moved to a new heading? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.185.84 (talk) 11:57, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Fixed. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 02:46, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Le Mans

[edit]

"The 13-year gap between Wurz's victories is the largest in the event's history.[2]" - I'm not sure about this.

Hurley Haywood won in 1977, 1983 and 1994. Those are wins that span 17 years.

Luigi Chinetti won the race in 1932, 1934 and 1949. 1932-1949 is 17 years (as with Haywood), and 1934-1949 is a gap of 15 years between race wins.

Is the 'record' for the biggest gap between first win and next win at la Sarthe? I think it either needs explaining better or removing.

I assume it was intended to mean the record for the biggest gap between successive wins for a specific driver. But in that case, as you point out, Chinetti's 15-year gap (1934-49) trumps Wurz's 13 years. Although of course there were only 6 LM24H races actually run between 1934 and 1949, so if it said "The 13-event gap between Wurz's victories..." then that would be a different story. It would be interesting to see exactly what the quoted source said. Regardless, I'd be tempted to remove the statement as it's potentially misleading/confusing.
