Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.
If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.

This article could use, at a minimum, some copyediting for style. I don't see anything specific that I can say "this is a BLP issue" or "this has been whitewashed" but the subject is controversial enough and recent edits have been extensive enough that a BLP review would be useful. Sorry that I don't have the time to do this on my own. I'll post something similar at WP:BLPN. Note that I'm not accusing anybody of anything here, it would just be a good time to review this article in terms of BLP.
