Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it represents a portion of the history of the early Baptist churches of toronto which is not contained elsewhere>. — Einie101 (talk) 03:39, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

I have replaced the previous image (File:Alexander Street Baptist Church.jpg) with one that is clearly in the public domain. The previous image was taken in 1952 by J. V. Salmon (1911 - 1958) and is thus potentially still in copyright. The fact that it is publicly displayed on a website, in this case that of the Toronto Public Library, does not automatically place it in the public domain. However, according to the Copyright Act of Canada the photographer's copyright currently extends only 50 years after the death of the photographer, so it may be OK. In the US, it extends for 70 years. I'm going to inquire at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. If they say it's OK, it can be re-added.Voceditenore (talk) 09:00, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
