[edit]My sister and I attended that school in the mid 70s. I for first and second grades, she for 6th and 7th. To my knowledge no other white students ever attended before the schools were merged. Johnwesleypark1971 (talk) 23:21, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- If you can find a published source, that information can be added. David notMD (talk) 00:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- This article is sadly in need of references. There seems to be some confusion with the names because there is still a Junior High School that goes by the Alexander name. The Daily Leader seems to think that the school ceased to exist in 1970 (or is that a different school?), but it is possible that locals continued to use the name. Can anyone find good sources? - I would love to include information on the exact number of white students to ever attend, if we could find a source. I'm not sure we'll find any on that detail, but sources should exist to provide more information, particularly archives of the Starkville Daily News. Johnwesleypark1971, since you have first-hand knowledge of the subject, it should be easier for you to find info since you should know where to look and what to look for. Learn about how wikipedia works, particularly reliable sources, and help us build this article!Jacona (talk) 13:48, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- ["https://www.newspapers.com/clip/35564136/oktibbeha_school_reorganization_plan/"|Here's a source] about a plan that didn't get implemented. What's not really said in the article is that Alexander and Moor, the two "blackest" and poorest schools, were to be retained in a separate district while the two whiter schools, Sturgis and Maben, would have been merged into the rich Starkville School District. Alexander
[edit]It may be that I am wrong and the Alexander i went to is the one you are talking about. But for that to be true then it would have served 1st through jr. high. I could be wrong about that. However if that is true you are using the wrong photograph. The one you have is taken from where our school bus parked and that is the front entrance of my sister and I's school.
