I came here looking to see if the Republican political consultant on the West Wing (Season 6-7?) is based on Alex Castellanos. I saw a picture of Alex for the first time and immediately saw a resemblance... Rollo44 (talk) 21:04, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Rollo44[reply]
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.
Hi there, anyone watching this page! Over the past month I've been researching and writing a new draft for this article and I'm now looking for other editors to review my work. As a disclosure: I have prepared this new draft on behalf of, and with input from, Purple Strategies - Castellanos' communications firm. Due my COI here, I will not move the draft live myself or make any other edits to the live article. For now I have placed the draft in my user space here: User:16912 Rhiannon/Alex Castellanos (One note about this draft: the categories are disabled, so they will need to be fixed by anyone moving it into live space.)
A few of the issues with the current version of the article, which my draft aims to address include:
The current Personal background section is a confusing muddle of information about his childhood and personal life, consultancy career and other professional roles such as his guest commentator appearances on CNN. As much as possible given available sources, I have included these details but placed them under more logical headings of Personal life, Career and Other activities.
The use of subsection headings for specific events in Castellanos' career in the current article is not really in keeping with standard article structure. Also, although each of these subsections in the current article refers to a notable part of his career, the information is not provided within the context of his career more broadly. In my draft, I've created a Career section and organized these specific events within that to give them some context and provide a more standard structure.
Regarding the 2012 appearance on Meet the Press section, I found that this event was subject to just a few media hits at the time but does not seem to be something that Castellanos is particularly known for, so I have included information on this in my draft but summarized it under Other activities and placed it in context of his frequent appearances on Meet The Press.
Information about Castellanos' previous and current firms is currently included in the introduction, but not in the body of the article. I have moved specifics about his career history to the Career section and revised the introduction to summarize the most notable facts about him.
There is an available image of Castellanos on Wikimedia Commons, but this is not included in the current article. I have added this to the infobox in the draft version.
Please take a look at my draft if you are interested. Any feedback would be really appreciated, either here or on the draft's Talk page, and feel free to make any small edits directly to the draft in my user space. For larger edits, let's discuss them here / on the Talk page of the draft. If you feel that the draft is ready to be moved live, please do so. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:36, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
