[edit]Like the French Laundry or L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon Restaurant Alex stands out because it is one out of only 16 MOBILE Five Star rated Restaurants in the USA. The restaurant's celebrated Executive Chef Alessandro Stratta has won several awards, including the James Beard Foundation Award

Article name, subject notability
[edit]This article should be renamed Alex (restaurant); I'll proceed with the change if no objection. Also, references indicating notability should be added or else this will probably not satisfy notability under WP:CORP. While the fact that it is one of only 16 Mobile 5-stars in the US (well, technically, 14 since seeger's and alain ducasse closed) makes it a member of an exclusive group, that really isn't enough for notability under wiki guidelines. I also think this would work better as a part of an Alex Stratta article, with an accompanying redirect, whenever one is ever developed. --SesameballTalk 20:02, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that the article should be renamed to Alex (restaurant), I just don't know how to do it (yet)

- Apparently I can not change it since I am not an Admin
Funcrab 21:37, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- 'enough for notability' is subjective. I will work on finding more external links and articles
Funcrab 23:13, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's not subjective - have a look at WP:CORP for the objectives ;-) Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 21:40, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, I read it, somehow do not understand your concerns. Let me quote WP:CORP and comment:
- Primary Criterion: A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject. The depth of coverage of the subject by the source must be considered. If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability.
This is given, please keep reading:
Let me quote some points from Wikipedia talk:Notability (organizations and companies) which support this article:
- Notability: A company [etc.] is notable if it has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works, the source of which is both: independent of [it]; reliable. includes published works in all forms, such as (for examples) newspaper articles.
>>>I found several (non-local publication) articles about this restaurant and posted them under external links.
- Accomplishments:
>>>AAA Restaurant Rating (5 Diamonds out of 5), Mobil Rating (5 Stars out of 5), Michelin Guide Rating (2 Coins/Stars out of 3). And these are only the 3 most notable restaurant raters
- 'quote: ... if a restaurant gets covered by the Michelin Guide or a publication with that level of exclusivity, I'll give it a lot more weight'.
>>> The Michelin Guide rated Restaurant Alex, and the result will be published Nov 15, 2007 (2 Stars, unoffical: there was a leak within Michelin so the results/ratings are out. [see L.A. Times Article])
Here are some other notable Restaurants which nobody questions its notability: Bouchon, per se (restaurant), Le Cirque
Please let me know what you think :-) --Funcrab 09:48, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent information here! I incorporated a lot of it into the article and wikified it a bit. I did remove the history portion because it opened with the rest of the casino, so felt it was superfluous. --SesameballTalk 03:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Looks very nice! Thank you! It is my first article and I still have to read/learn all the Wiki Rules and details "how to" and "how not to" :-) --Funcrab 10:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! I think you're doing great so far - you've got the right ideas. Some things just come down to personal opinion as well. Then there are the minor policies that just take getting used to, like how to cite references in articles. All with time.--SesameballTalk 10:34, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- So, do you think this is a notable restaurant? Can we remove the "notability" remark? You wrote a great article on Alex Stratta, only one thing I can add so far --Funcrab (talk) 08:20, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
