[edit]This page is a bit sparse and contains at least one error - Strange's was bought in 1945 by a subsidiary of Strong & Co of Romsey (Scrase's of Southampton), not Whitbread. Strong's bought Wethered (of Marlow) in 1949, closed Strange's and passed the pubs to Wethered's. Strong's was bought out by Whitbread in 1969.
Thomas Strange bought the brewery in 1835 (the date on the conveyance) from several members of the Stephen's family whose grandfather(?) had founded it. At that time there were 10-15 tied houses included in the sale, this had grown to 50 by the time Strong's bought the brewery. Newburychap (talk) 11:46, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
