Source information

Hi Wham- When I created the entry for the Marin Institute (the Marin Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Other Drug Problems) on 20-8-05, I used The Marin Institute as the source.David Justin 17:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Some source

David Justin / Dr. David J. Hanson, You have been persistently been spam linking to your sites mainly using sock puppets such as those blocked in this case: Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/David Justin (2nd).

You claim that the page you created on 20-8-05 is based on http://www .alcoholfacts.org/RWJfoundation.html

However, if we examine the page, we find it mentions the Marin Institute only in passing. On that basis, your page does not merit a link, let alone being credited as a source. Wham Bam No Thank You Spam 08:44, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Clarification and correction

Hi Wham- I apologize for creating confusion. After investigation, I discovered that the material in bold is from two sources, “Temperance Movement Groups and Leaders in the U.S.” and ”Marin Institute to Focus 100% Against Alcohol Industry.” Sorry.David Justin 15:58, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

The Marin Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Other Drug Problems is an organization that promotes reduction of consumption alcohol policies. These include increasing the taxes on alcoholic beverages, reducing the hours during which time alcohol can be sold, increasing the size of warning labels on alcoholic beverage containers, requiring warnings on all alcohol advertisements, restricting the content and placement of alcohol ads, and prohibiting alcohol sponsorship of athletic events.

Established in 1987, the Marin Institute reported in 2006 that "countering the alcohol industry has always been a high priority for the Marin Institute, but we now want to make it the central focus of our efforts. That means we'll put 100% of our energy into stopping the alcohol industry from harming public health."

The Marin Institute has been recognized for its temperance activities by the Prohibition Party.

Marin Institute claims its own definition

As a reputable non-profit organization advocating for public health, we have too long tolerated the lies, distortions and WEIRD historical references to "prohibitionism" and "temperance" added to our entry by David Hansen, AKA David Justin. We welcome advocates and web freedom lovers adding or improving this entry, and encourage anyone truly interested in how alcohol corporations can be challenged to look into our copious and cutting edge web site, http://www.marininstitute.org. This comment is from Bruce Livingston, Executive Director of Marin Institute, at BruceL@marininstitute.org. Marininstitute 05:02, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Neutral Point of View

This whole article, especially the first paragraph, reads like a propaganda piece and contains weasel words everywhere. It is in sore need of wikification and point-of-view neutralization. The entire last paragraph, prior to my edit, consisted of an ad hominem attack authored by the Executive Director of this organization, who has a vested interest in this article. If this article is not cleaned up and the point of view neutralized I may recommend it for deletion. Lumbergh 13:01, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Mr. Parnell Lumbergh's remarks are inflammatory and bogus as the statements however short and concise are exactly the prime and official purpose and mission of the organization as notated in various public documents and probate testimony. It seems clear that Mr. Lumbergh just doesn't like the fact there are foundations that are funding projects to examine and expose bad business practices on the the general public, in this case, our children and youth. While this is an open discussion area, Wikimedia should curb nonfactual remarks that have no basis in truth or fact. 64.7.84.78 (talk) 20:21, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Edits July 2008

COI and NPOV edits/conflicts dominate the history of this article and its talk page; there is a discussion here as well: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam#About 400 links to the two sites of one individual. Edits I made to this article were based on external links I added meeting WP:RS, and I removed the potsdam.edu article links as both biased and non-notable per WP:EL, despite their author's notability. Flowanda | Talk 19:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Well the fact that the guy had to use sockpuppets to flog his own research tells you all you really have to know about him. SiberioS (talk) 03:55, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Removal of spam links and influence on article and talk pages

I've removed link and edit spam. Please find sources that meet WP:RS or discuss here for help in finding appropriate sourcing. Flowanda | Talk 09:15, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
