Editing Whitman

[edit]

To achieve consensus, I am letting it be known that I am drawing upon respected scholarship in the field of Black poetry to add to entry on Albery Allson Whitman. Right now I am drawing upon the scholarship of Benjamin Brawley; I have cited the references on the page. Should anyone disagree with the scholarship of Brawley, please state your reasons here. I recently came across a more contentious article, Ishmael Reed's "Why The Thirty Two-Year Assault On Some Black Male Writers?" Black Renaissance 14.2 (2014) which I will be reading in the next few days and deciding whether to cite this very interesting take on Whitman. Ishmael Reed is a dramatic figure and it is interesting to see that he takes Whitman seriously. JRW03 (talk) 23:07, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
