Coining of name
[edit]When was the word `Albertopolis` coined? 1850s?Andycjp 07:01, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- In 40 years of living in the area I never heard anyone call it this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.4.131.140 (talk) 15:49, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- It seems to have been a derogatory term used by critics of the scheme to create a cultural quarter, and was never really used as a formal name of the area. It does appear in material by the V&A and RIBA to refer to the area, but this seems to be fairly recent (2006 and later?) and I can't find anything that categorically supports it as a name for the area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.143.240.34 (talk) 14:12, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have certainly heard the name mentioned, though it's not in everyday usage. Ben Finn (talk) 14:06, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

- Not in everyday usage?! You'd be hard pushed to hear it once a decade. Definitely not something locals say. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael19999 (talk • contribs) 08:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Tunnel to Albert Hall
[edit]- This tunnel originally continued as a covered route to the south porch of the Royal Albert Hall via a second tunnel
Is this really true? I've read elsewhere on the web that this was merely a proposal made in 1906 that was not implemented. Ben Finn (talk) 14:06, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
