For the amusement of whoever reads this: I removed Category:American police chiefs from this article. I see no source for the claim that he was a police chief, but versions of that claim have been hanging around since this article was first written in 2006. I think it's a misunderstanding, tracing back to a biography that said he was on a Board of Police Commissioners, but that seems to be a regular-citizen role on a monitoring board, not a police chief role.
