Maggie the elephant

[edit]

Twice a link to Maggie the Elephant has been added, & now twice removed because no such article exists. However, turns out that a stub article Maggie the elephant -- was created a few days ago. I'm going to change it to a redirect page to this article, seeing as it provides less info than this present article provides, & is not sourced & unencyclopedically written to boot. I will add further details about Maggie's current status hopefully today. (The Alaska Zoo Board has finally decided she should be moved.) Possibly later, after that info is expanded, it can be moved back to the Maggie the elephant page with briefer info about her here. --Yksin 17:43, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I knew Annabelle the elephant but never knew about Maggie.Areuqsom76 (talk) 06:38, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Number of animals

[edit]

Is it true that the zoo has only 100 aninals? This seems rather few for 25 acres... 217.111.34.154 (talk) 08:27, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I asked the same, wrote the zoo, and got no answer. The cited article says literally "more than 100 birds and mammals", not "species." It would be helpful if someone in Alaska could sort this out. Donlammers (talk) 10:29, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I note that someone has corrected this to 120 animals of 50 species. The 120 animals still points to the original citation, so I changed it back to 100. The 50 species is not cited. I am going to go aheat and add it to the infobox anyway. Donlammers (talk) 10:32, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, infobox already contained a ref. I didn't touch it (though I did find other things to fix). At this time, we have 50 species in the text, 35 in the infobox, and 41 species actually listed in the article (but not in alphabetical order). I don't have time right now to try to reconcile this. Proper historical context check

[edit]

Robert Atwood, in his posthumous autobiography, makes reference to Sammye Seawell in the context of her 1960s activities which led to the creation of the zoo by her maiden name, and that she was later known as Seawell. Just wondering if this distinction should apply here too. Methinks so.RadioKAOS (talk) 05:23, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incidents

[edit]

There was a murder case at the zoo, so can this along with the other incidents be on this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18D:4700:2D30:FC9D:2C72:42DD:6448 (talk) 16:36, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
