Picking this one up. Review will follow soon. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:55, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Article still needs a fair bit of work.
- Web references should have title, publisher, url and access date
- book references should include the page number
- fn 1: Spacefacts is not a RS. (Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 273#Spacefacts) You will need to source this from somewhere else.
He was of Scottish descent. As a boy, he lived in Minden, the seat of Webster Parish in northwestern Louisiana, where his father worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service.
This is not covered by fn 7. References required.
- Suggest moving the first sentence of Military Career here so everything stays in chronological order.
- There's no mention of his first wife. (Sue Ragsdale - suggested source (another)
- I don't really like the (birth-death) in parentheses after names. (His son died in 2019 btw [1]
- He attended UT on an NROTC scholarship
- Should make it clear that the hours of flying include hours flown while at NASA
- The oral history link is broken
Fixed the Scottish descent and father employment references, moved the military career sentences, fixed birth-death dates, added UT NROTC scholarship, and updated hours of flying. Will update links and references later. QuicksmartTortoise513 — Preceding undated comment added 00:05, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
I will update the references at a later date. I have other work I currently need to work on. Sorry about any delays. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 07:03, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Currently working on fixing the oral history link. Fixing other references soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 16:32, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Which number is the reference to Spacefacts, and what are references 2 and 3 on your list? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 16:57, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
- A couple of additional sources. Spacefacts is fn 1. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:19, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
The Spacefacts link has been removed. Will work on adding Sue Ragsdale and fixing other references soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 22:40, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Starting on fixing references for both websites and books. Will start adding information of Sue Ragsdale soon. Thank you for your patience. User:QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 04:58, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
I believe the references have been fixed, with page numbers shown, but for some websites and articles, authors could not be found. This should mean that the final things to do are add mentions to Sue Ragsdale and add your listed references and sources. User:QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs 08:15, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
Second pass
[edit]- Reference required for last sentence of "Early life and education"
- Access-date required for fns 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 24, 50
- Publisher required for fns 1, 2, 10, 14, 15, 18, 24
- via newspapers.com required for fn 7,
- url-access=subscription required required for fn 9,
- Page number required for fn 19, 23, 39
- In the Bibliography, Jones isn't used. Suggest renaming the section "Further reading" or just dropping it entirely.
Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:11, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
Added reference for "Early life and education," I believe access-date is included for fn 1, added newspaper.com aggregation for fn 7, and renamed bibliography to "Further reading." — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 05:22, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
Used better reference for fn 9. Replaced fn 9 with better links and reused other links. QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 06:19, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
Added mention to Sue Ragsdale, with recommended sources and references placed. QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk • contribs) 00:27, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
