Expert tag unjustified
[edit]Template:Expert_needed requires explaining what sort of expertise is needed. Unless the specific reason is given, then this tag should be removed. Do we need a specialist in understanding women peace activists? Is the material presently in the article really too complicated for typical Wikipedians to judge in terms of Wikipedia standards? In any case, without a specification of what sort of expert is needed, the tag should be removed. Boud (talk) 20:54, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

Like resume
[edit]Things that probably need work to reduce the resemblance of this article to a cv:
- the Honours and awards list should be compressed to e.g. a prose paragraph listing 5-6 of the most prominent awards - especially those for which Wikipedia articles exist as evidence that the awards are prominent;
- there is lots of the wording, including in the lead, such as "which provides thought leadership in conflict resolution and inclusive security," which express opinions/judgments of people supporting the organisation rather than more objective facts or attributed claims:
- what is "thought leadership"? does this really mean "ideas"? is there a Wikipedia article inclusive security?
- if "inclusive security" is a well-defined concept (including all socio-demographic groups of society in military/police decisions?) that is not just a new name for something with an older name, then it should probably be worth creating a Wikipedia entry about it; otherwise, a phrase such as 'what Murabit calls "inclusive security"' would better attribute this as a term that she has introduced;
- the "Career" section could probably be broken up into a few subsections. For example, 2011–2015: VLW, United Nations roles; and 2016–present: co-founding/directorship of Omnis Institute and Phase Minus 1.
- organisations of which Murabit was/is a board member would seem to me to be less important than organisations of which she is/was a co-founder/director - but if those organisations are not (yet) important enough to have their own Wikipedia entries, then giving sufficient 3rd party references as evidence that those organisations exist and are to some degree potentially Wikipedia-notable would make the claims of relevance stronger.
- being invited to speak at various events is not necessarily a significant event - this is a matter of judgment - but my guess is that quite a few of these should be removed. Individual parts of the article should probably be discussed in individual sections on this talk page. If edit comments are enough to explain the changes to other editors, then not everything will have to be discussed here on the talk page.
I suggest that someone remove the "like resume" tag after the article is sufficiently improved. Boud (talk) 16:05, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Boud Boud Thank you for your help. I have made suggested edits as you recommended but the "like resume" tag continues to be returned. The one change I have been unable to make is on Inclusive Security https://www.inclusivesecurity.org/ which is a commonly used term but I don't know how to make pages myself. I do believe this is intentional vandalism and would appreciate your guidance. Mrwa1976 (talk) 01:34, 27 May 2019 (UTC) Mrwa1976 (edit to avoid creating references section Boud (talk) 22:40, 6 June 2019 (UTC))
- Honours/awards list: looks a lot better to me;
- unattributed opinions of why people/organisations are good - seems OK to me now;
- career - substructure - seems fair enough to me;
- For creating an article about "inclusive security", start at Wikipedia:Your_first_article. First have a general read through the guideline, then come back and be bold: collective a minimum number of independent references and start editing. :)
- The like resume tag is not something to sort out by edit-warring - and it's not up to me alone to decide! This talk page makes it possible to have respectful, reasoned, evidenced discussion. I'll start a subsection below to see if we can close the like resume tag.
- Regarding your concern about "intentional vandalism": conflict between well-intentioned, careful, hardworking people happens inevitably - we understand things different ways, have different experience, interpret (or misinterpret) expressions in different ways. If you really think there's intentional vandalism, then you should document that properly in an independent section, while trying to assume good faith - trying to understand why the edits may have been made with good intentions. Proposal: remove like resume tag
[edit]We have recently had:
- this IPv6 edit by 2601:184:4080:4199:8ce5:e94e:9c8:d348 which removed the like resume tag without any edit summary nor discussion on the talk page;
- this IPv4 edit by 72.74.242.105 restoring the like resume tag and giving the edit summary, (Insufficient edits, reads like resume and information added does not merit removal of tag).
To both of you: conversation will be easier if you log in (create an account if you don't have one yet) so that we don't have to refer to you two as IP numbers from Cambridge and Mattapan in Massachusetts, USA or by your IP numbers themselves.
To 72.74.242.105: I do agree that the article still tends to focus more on a list of awards and recognition (why she is notable) and less on what Murabit has actually done in her research and activism to deserve notability. But there is some description of what she has done, and I think it would be unfair to say that any of my suggestions have been ignored. The article is a lot better than it was before.
I propose that unless you (72.74.242.105) or other Wikipedians state here in this talk section, on a reasonable time scale (e.g. a week from now), what concretely what needs to be improved to make this article less like a resume, then we remove the resume tag.
Mrwa1976: Please give 72.74.242.106 the benefit of the doubt. We're still a bit fuzzy about what inclusive security is (create the article and we'll know better what it is), but inclusive editing on the Wikipedia has a solid 18-year experience behind it. :) Boud (talk) [date of edit missing: 22:41, 6 June 2019] Boud (talk) 19:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Since in 3 weeks, there has been no justification of why the like resume tag should remain, please do not restore the tag without giving a justification and concrete description of what is wrong and needs fixing (and is too much work for the complainee to fix... ). Even better: first discuss, and then tag if there's difficulty in coming to consensus with other editors here on this talk page. Boud (talk) 19:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
