[edit]I would say Al Johnson (musician) but that already describes a different individual. The current title is not in line with naming conventions, as it uses a nickname and does not capitalize the last name. Ideas anyone? Beeblebrox (talk) 19:47, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi beeblebrox. I would like to propose moving the article to Al "Carnival Time" Jonson. That is the official stage name he uses (as you see on his official website here) and he is credited as such on his latest release "Lower Ninth Ward Blues". Alvin Lee Robison is his full name, but I don't think he ever used that name, and for the article, it seems inappropriate. Thanks. --Sumori (talk) 00:09, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I have made both your suggestion and the original name of the page, Al carnival time johnson, into redirects to this page, and added a link at the Al Johnson disambiguation page, but you are free to request further moving, click here to request the page be moved. - Thanks. I personally feel it's enough to talk about it here. So any thoughts about making the move? --Sumori (talk) 14:05, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've been poring over the naming conventions for biographical articles to try and find some guidance here. On the one hand, it says stage names should be used if they are best known by that name, for example Dizzy Gillespie or MC Hammer. On the other hand, it also says that punctuation marks should be avoided in article titles, so your suggestion would work, but without the quotation marks. Before we go ahead and move, I notice you spelled it without an "h", is that correct? (I also noticed you spelled it "Robinson" one time but I assume that was just a mistake) Beeblebrox (talk) 18:28, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Those are simply my mistake, and what I meant was Al "Carnival Time" Johnson. My apologies for the confusion. Is it a must that quotation marks is to be avoided? There are articles like Johnny "Guitar" Watson and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and there seems to be no problem. --Sumori (talk) 03:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it says to avoid them but it also says to use the most common name they would be known by. I think common name probably trumps the punctuation thing, especially in light of the two articles you've pointed out. Beeblebrox (talk) 05:00, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
