railroad
[edit]Currently the article mentions the decline of the store came with the coming of the railroad, with railroad just linking to the generic article for railroad. A quick scan of my map archive, the rail line that literately passes through Ajax is the Lynndyl Subdivision, former Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad, which was built in the late 1890s-early 1900s. That almost surely is the railroad in question. There is a slim chance it was a short lived spur from the Utah Southern Railroad (1871–1881) that went to the Tintic mining district in a very round about way that came within 10 miles of Ajax. However, I have no information on this line (though I do have a book on ghost rail lines on my shelves somewhere, I could check that), other than it was likely built in the 1870s. But can anybody confirm which line this was? It would be nice to wikilink to it in the article rather than the generic railroad. Dave (talk) 18:09, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
