Further to your RQ, see above for the name of the French WW1 aviator. I have not read the book but came across the following:-

Thanks for that. From your ref, it appears that du Peuty was a major and only commanded the air element of the French 10th Army. Was there an overall French air commander at this stage? Greenshed (talk) 21:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Another ref found - de Peuty was the Head of the Service Aéronautique in 1917. Greenshed (talk) 12:23, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
