“hope that I'm a better liar than she is”

The article interprets that line as “exploring the idea that while she lies to try to keep from hurting him, he does so in order to ‘prove’ he doesn’t care and to hopefully hurt her in return.” I’m not sure about that, it may just mean he doesn’t want to show he sees through her lies (having a rather inverse intention than to hurt her).

On another note, I wouldn’t say mentioning another song in the lyrics counts as metareference. (And if it does, it should either be said explicitly or not at all. Giving information by linking text is not encyclopedic style.) --Kronf (talk) 23:38, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
