@David Eppstein: You have not used a reply-to template and I suppose User:Aidongzhang may not be familiar with watching machinery, hence she may remain unaware about your question above. So I add this little link here to generate a red notification signal to her. --CiaPan (talk) 20:32, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:BLPPRIVACY, we should be cautious about including date of birth. Here, someone who claims to be the subject has indicated a clear preference against inclusion. Although it is readily available elsewhere, it is not so essential to the article that it must be included. (And there's a difference between being available for someone who looks for it, and popping up in a knowledge box in a search.) I do hope that the identity of user Aidongzhang is verified through WP:OTRS for the ongoing AfD discussion. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 06:52, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure that the Library of Congress is a reliable source for birth dates, either. I imagine they simply accept the date given by a publisher or author, and there may well be transcription errors. pburka (talk) 12:43, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BLPPRIVACY clearly states "If a subject complains about our inclusion of their date of birth, or the person is borderline notable, err on the side of caution and simply list the year". Which seems the most cautious approach here. Regarding the quality of the source, it seems like LoC is the best we have and we dont have any reason to doubt it or assume that there are transcription errors. Pburka why should we not trust LoC - what other source do you think would not "simply accept the date given by the author or publisher"? In general that is what most RS do unless there is a controversy around the DOB. --hroest00:27, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But here, the subject has indicated a reasonably clear preference to not even include the year. This seems like the sort of thing that we generally go with the subject's wishes on... My reading of WP:BLPPRIVACY here is that it presumes including the year would be noncontroversial and nonobjectionable; in most cases it would be right. FWIW I agree with Russ on this one: if a living subject requests not to include the birthdate, and the date is not a significant aspect of the notability of the subject, we should remove it both here (already done) and on Wikidata (as I have now done, to prevent e.g. Google searches from showing the date and crediting Wikipedia for the information), even when that date is available from reliable sources elsewhere, as it is in this case. —David Eppstein (talk) 01:42, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The subject has suggested that the date is incorrect. Given that it's disputed, that we have only a single source (others appear to essentially be mirrors), that it's not a particularly strong source for this information, and that her birthdate isn't very important, we shouldn't include it. pburka (talk) 03:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I read all the correspondence and appreciate your effort on setting a page for me. But I prefer not to have such a page since people are randomly adding stuff which may be personal or incorrect or very old stuff not reflecting me. As this is out of my control, I prefer not to have such a page if possible. I tried to make changes to correct your mistakes but every time my edit was reverted. For example, I am not the founding editor-in-chief for TCBB. I am the current editor-in-chief. Such wrong information does not promote me instead it sent wrong information to people and they might think I made such claims. So if possible, I still think it is the best to delete my page.
