Chaopha
[edit]The title "chaopha" is now translated in the article as "chao"="god" and "pha"="heaven". "Chao" in Thai actually means "ruler" and I first thought that "pha" came from "phra", meaning "revered" as often the letter R is dropped in speach. I then realized that the word came from "fa", which indeed means "heaven" or "sky". In standard Thai, the title "chao fa" (Thai: เจ้าฟ้า) just means "prince" or "princes" as in "Chao Fa Maha Vajiralongkorn" (the present crown prince of Thailand) and is often translated as "Royal Son" or "Royal Daughter", not "heavenly god" as is now implicated in the article. Perhaps this misunderstanding might have come from misquoting the book "Historical Development of Legal Literature on Customary Laws in Assam: A Critical Study" by "Wadikur Rohman" ("chaopha" as "king of heaven"). Hopefully someone who speaks Assamese can correctly translate Swargadeo. - Takeaway (talk) 19:15, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Mistake in Ahom dynasty chronology
[edit]In this chronologyof Ahom dynasty it is shown that there were three interegnum periods, but in actual, there were two interregnum periods. The first interregnum period occured after the assassination of Sutuphaa and the second interregnum period occured after the assassinstion of Tyao Khamti. I will correct this mistakes. I am really very dissapointed that the history of Assam in wikipedia has so much wrong information.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 20:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- Are you looking at Gait? Later historians identify three interregna (For example, S L Baruah). Chaipau (talk) 03:58, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- Its not only in Gait. History wriiten by old time Historains like "Assam Buranji" or A History of Assam by Gunaviram Barua, first published in 1884, "Ahomar Din" or The History of Assam under Ahom by Hiteswar Barbaruah, first published in 1924, Assam Buranji or A history of Assam by Padmanath Gohain Baruah, first president of Axom Sahitya Sabha, Assam History by S. K. Bhuyan all have showed that there were two interregna periods during the six hundred years reign of Ahom Dynasty. I have not read the history writen by S. L. Baruah, so cannot comment on it, but i do want to say that these historian of old times have written their historical records from old manuscripts written during Ahom period, so plz take this point under consideration.
- I have a collection of several historical books and documents and i do want to enrich the history of Assam in wikipedia. I have already started to work for this cause and i request ur sincere help and co operation in this regard.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 11:17, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have consulted Padmeswar Gogoi (1968) and he too lists three interregna. I have now added a footnote to clear this point. The two most modern writers seem to accept three interregna, and so I have retained them in the list. Chaipau (talk) 21:27, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- i have seen your foot note. Its good you have mentioned the fact that some historians have skipped it. None of the history books which i have read have mention about this interegnum. So i was bit confused. It seem there are some conflicts in the histories written by old time historians and modern historians. From now on i will be cautious before editing. I also request you, kindly try to gather some of the history book written by old time historians. Some of them are
- Ahomar Din by Hiteswar Barbarua
- Assam Buranji by Gunaviram Barua
- Tunkhungia Buranji by Surya Kumar Bhuyan
- The above books are full of informations and historical facts which will help you a great deal to know about the history of Ahom dynasty and Assam History.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 16:48, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Mistake in the name of Sukaphaa's son
[edit]I have noticed that the name of Sukaphaa's son and the second king of Ahom kingdom is given as Sutephaa. In reality, most of the chronicles have recorded his name as Suteuphaa. I have already created an article on him. Please include his name in the list of Ahom Dynasty as Suteuphaa. Also have written article on Susenphaa, Suhenphaa and Supimphaa. Do include them in the list of Ahom Dynasty.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 16:15, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Jogeshwar Singha
[edit]I have created the article on Jogeshwar Singha, but in my article i missed the "h" and i created the article as Jogeswar Singha. That is the reason the article is not linking in the Ahom Dynasty list. Can you help it.? Is the letter "h" necessary in Jogeshwar? The books which i used as source, all wrote the name as Jogeswar. Similar to other Ahom kings names like Rajeswar Singha and Kamaleswar Singha. Please help in linking the article with the list.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 21:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Addition of new articles
[edit]I have created the article Suhung and Gobar Roja. Please add them in the list of Ahom Dynasty. I have observed that the name of the Ahom king Suhung is shown as Suhunga. None of the historical books mentioned the king's name as Suhunga. Rather the king was known as Suhung. Also when i tried to create the article on Ahom king Gobar, i have found that an article name Gobar was already there but it was refering to cow dung. Therefore i have to create the article as Gobar Roja. Do look into this matter and help these articles to get included in the list of Ahom Dynasty.Lachitbarphukan (talk) 21:03, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
