Fourth AW169 Performs Its Maiden Flight

[edit]

Just Hit the news 'The fourth and final AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter prototype made its maiden flight on January 31 at AgustaWestland's facility in Vergiate, Italy. During its flight, the aircraft performed as expected. The event is a major milestone for the AW169 program as the last of four prototypes now enters the flight test program.

The AW169 program is on schedule to achieving civil certification in 2014. The first three AW169 prototypes, which performed their maiden flights in May 2012, July 2012 and November 2012, have completed more than 150 flight hours to date. The 10-passenger helicopter was launched in July 2010 to fill a gap in AgustaWestland's product line between the AW109 light-twin and the AW139 medium-twin. The P&WC PW210-powered aircraft is also positioned to challenge Eurocopter's AS365 Dauphin and EC145 lines'Snowonweb (talk) 14:56, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
