Lack of references
[edit]Nothing in this article identifies "Agrocola's Ditch" as being any different to Hadrian's Wall itself. The first reference is to a web-page which simply mentions the name, the second is to "United Kingdom Ordnance Survey Map, Landranger, scale 1:50,000 (2004)" - which one? I have them all - no mention of "Agrocola's Ditch" on any. The third is to "Stephen Johnson (2004) Hadrian's Wall" - I have this work - no mention there either.
There is a clue on that website - a reference to William Hutton (1802) "The History of the Roman Wall". During the 18th and 19th centuries, Hadrian's Wall was thought to have been built by Agricola. It appears that the Vallum was known as "Agrocola's Ditch".
I shall either update this article to reflect this, or flag it for deletion. Rambler24 (talk) 10:57, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
