Year of death: 1836 or 1837? (SOLVED)
[edit]There seems to be some confusion about the year of his death - even here(!): VIAF: 41888810 - The French WP gives it as 1836, as does the Bibliothèque nationale de France. - Maybe, all the others could be traced back to the same source, namely the EB? In any case, if somebody could sort this problem out and has verified the correct date, it should be notified to the sister-WPs as well. --46.114.107.97 (talk) 01:07, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Here is some more evidence (WP-FR): "Il meurt le 16 septembre 1836 à Paris avant la fin de la session parlementaire à l'âge de 58 ans." (He died September 16, 1836 at Paris before the end of parliamentary session at the age of 58.)
- and therefore I looked here (where specifically the name of his successor is given also):
- Liste des députés du Loiret; Monarchie de Juillet (1830-1848); IIIe législature (WP-FR): "Agathon Jean François Fain décédé en (=died) 1836, remplacé par (=succeeded by) Nicolas Jean-Baptiste Boyard". --46.114.107.97 (talk) 02:10, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
Case closed: WP-EN got it right, and WP-FR is wrong! Two highly reliable sources to that effect, Thierry Lentz (a French historian, distinguished expert on all matters of the Napoleonic Era) and Paul Fain (grandson of Baron Agathon Fain, and publisher of his Mémores) agree it's 1837. - Please note: all the contributions above here were only mine. Don't want to leave a false impression. My IP is a "dynamic" one.--176.0.40.217 (talk) 01:24, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
