This article is so...outdated, why do people think that latin jazz is in the past? there are still very great latin jazz composers such as alain perez, and pequeno johnny. some of which are very young kids...

this article is replete with incorrect and/or missing information...for instance ..there is NO musical style called SALSA from Cuba. Salsa was a marketing term used to revive a once thriving MAMBO market in the NYC area.

I started a new section on important albums, I just put the two I can think of off the top of my head, but certainly there are more.

title of article

A more neutral title would be Cuban jazz, as a satellite article in the Cuban music category. Cuban music has, at least from 1800, been one of the best-integrated forms of music, with all kinds of orchestras, bands and groups having multi-racial membership. In this respect it is different from music in some other parts of the world. What a pity, then, to use a title which goes out if its way to underline the African heritage (which, of course, I agree was, and is, important). Cuban jazz groups have always had black, mixed race and white musicians, and the music itself is a fusion. This is the reason why Cuban jazz would be a more inclusive, and better title. Reliable sources call it Afro-Cuban jazz. The musicians called it Afro-Cuban jazz. And albums were titled Afro-Cuban jazz. SilkTork *^{Tea time} 13:04, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

bad English grammer and incorrect information

Someone re-wrote some important paragraphs concerning the definition of the genre and the song "Manteca." It appears that English is not the first language of this person, so I can understand why perhaps they misunderstood what was written. Dizzy himself said that Chano Pozo created the guajeos in the intro of Manteca. The statement does not mean that Chano invento guajeos, merely that Chano created the intro. Chano did not arrange the song. Before you make any more changes, it would be best to discuss the issues here I believe. Dr clave (talk) 05:00, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Weight and others

This article seems to be dominated by Machito and Bauza when it's supposed to be about the general topic of Afro Cuban jazz. The last paragraph is commentary on Bauza's contribution. The "ten innovations" section is sloppy and overdone, consisting of sentence fragments and unsourced opinions. Much of it seems to have come from Yahoo Groups, which is an unreliable source. Forums and discussion groups cannot be used as sources. The use of overlinking, copious pictures, block quotes, notation, and audio samples has wrecked the syntax coloring, making editing difficult. It's more like graffiti than an article.
