I removed the redirect to Christianity in Africa and converted it into a stub. Expanding it is on my "To do" list, but I'd welcome input from others who know more about it than I do. SteveH 03:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steve E--thank you for this contribution to Wiki. I am an academic who works in the area of African Christianity. May I kindly recommend that someone consider rewording the first line? African theology and black theology are two very different areas of Christian theology. Black theology is more associated with Western (usually American) thinking on the African American experience and is often associated with issues of race/racism and liberation. The scholars who work in this field are American or South African--and they work and move in more liberal circles. It does have some overlap with South African liberation theology (while South Africa is unique to the African continent for many reasons). African theology emerges from Africa itself; it is produced by theologians in Africa (generally), and is more concerned with issues like the contextualization of Christianity as well as its relationship with African traditional religions. The scholars who work in this field are usually (not always) from more conservative Christian traditions. I hope this helps. LionelY, aka, Leo Dei III
