The currently touring choirs are #30, #31 and #32 in the choirs' history. The current children are from Uganda and Kenya.
The choir recently performed at the recent UNAIDS conference with Wyclef Jean, as well as at the one.org Oscar party, on Jay Leno, Ellen, and other TV programs and international publicized events, rubbing shoulders with George Clooney, Richard Gere, Kofi Annan, Will Smith, Nelson Mandela, Bono, Kate Hudson, and many more. They were included in a March issue of People magazine.
The children in the choir are all victims of extreme poverty, and many, though not all, have lost one or both parents to AIDS or other poverty-related diseases.
In spite of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, these musically gifted children are radiant with hope and wonderfully entertaining. They melt the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles and joyful African melodies and dance.
The primary goal of the African Children’s Choir™ is to raise awareness of the need of destitute and orphaned children in Africa and to raise funds for continued development and support of the Choir’s relief and development programs. Once Choir members have completed a concert tour, they will return to their homelands with the support, care and education necessary for bettering their future and that of their brothers and sisters.
CITATIONS
I would like to update the page with citations, but, of necessity, the details and statistics are only available at the group's own web site. I know that single sources are frowned upon, but how to proceed? By the way, I disagree that the article is written like an advertisement. The choir is free of scandal and other notability. They just do what they were founded to do! I don't know how to "neutralize" the description. ExpatSalopian (talk) 20:12, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
