Addition of section on war crimes and policy on biographies of living persons
[edit]I have modified and extended this article and added the sections "Civil War" and "War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity" and "Post Civil War Activity". Doing so I tried to avoid spelling and grammar errors but since English is not my first language, I would be grateful if somebody could go over it for correction purposes. I am aware that the claims held especially in the second section are highly sensitive as regards the policy on biographies of living persons. However, I have carefully adhered to all guidelines given under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons. All claims made are well sourced. It is not claimed that Mr. Dhlakama is guilty of any of the crimes committed under his command the finding out of which would be the job of a war crimes tribunal. Yet it seemed justified to me to point out that it is unusual that he - contrary to what one should expect- never had to appear before such a tribunal. I regard the information given in these sections as highly relevant for any evaluation of Mr. Dhlakama's role in current mozambican politics. I furthermore believe that Mr. Dhlakama's role during the civil war is by far the encyclopedially most important aspect of his life. This is why I first introduced it into this article rather than editing the articles about the civil war. However I wish to contribute to a future extension of the relevant history articles by providing a balanced evaluation of both RENAMO and FRELIMO war crimes during the civil war, although this is going to be a far greater task. It is not my intention to especially blame RENAMO or white-wash FRELIMO in any way. I just had to start somewhere and Mr. Dhlakama's case seemed especially noticeable to me since he is the only politician known to me with such a war record who managed to become a respected political figure in his country's policy - apparently without ever being confronted about his past. Apart from that I think this article needs further expansion, especially concerning Dhlakama's post war political stances - some work for the future.
Sincerely,
Max Rapp --Rappatoni (talk) 19:06, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
"Allegation of war crimes and crimes against humanity" section
[edit]Dear IP (88.104.210.41),
regarding your edit of this article on January 18th 2013. According to the Wikipedia guideline on copying within Wikipedia it is allowed to copy content from one article to another. At the time, I was the sole contributor to the copied section, so no attribution was needed. However, if there is a problem with attribution, this can be easily fixed. Why do you think this section is "undue"? I regard the information you removed as important facts about Dhlakama's biography since he was leader of RENAMO at the time these crimes were committed. I am therefore inclined to undo your edit of the article. But maybe you have other good reasons for this change of which I am not aware?
Sincerely,
Max Rapp Rappatoni (talk) 14:39, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I looked up the article history and realized that I originally wrote this section for this very article and later copied it into the "Mozambican Civil War"-article. So if there is an issue with copying at all, it would be in the "Mozambican Civil War"-article. Max RappRappatoni (talk) 14:43, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
