Joe Kickass?
[edit]The picture on the AeroPlan card shows the name of one "Joe Kickass", while I'm sure there maybe someone who does have this name with an AeroPlan card I find it more likely it was Photoshop'd to appear as such and might be better adjusted to a more standard example name like "Joe Smith". 142.177.244.188 (talk) 03:11, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Clean up and some material to add
[edit]I've done a quick bit of clean up on a few sections and removed an unsourced and I think inaccurate claim on increasing volume of redemptions. That being said, it would be encyclopaedic to add some information on the devaluation of Aeroplan points and resultant backlash, provided someone can find reasonable references. They are amply discussed at flyertalk.com and elsewhere, but I've tried and can't find a credible, non-crowdsourced, non-primary source. Information which would be of relevance:
- Increases in standard ("Classic" and "Star Alliance") point levels required to redeem tickets for various destinations
- Increases in so-called fuel surcharges on Air Canada reward flights, and the institution of collection of such charges (on behalf of the ticketing agent, Air Canada) on many but not all Star Alliance partners
- Decrease in seats available per flight at standard point levels, especially in premium classes; combined with "Classic Plus" variable-point-level rewards which make some of those seats (and more) available at significantly increased mileage levels
- Reductions in premium redemption privileges for Premium tier members, for instance significant restrictions under what circumstances Super Elite members can redeem an international business class ticket when standard-point-level seats are no longer generally available but revenue seats are available for sale (so-called "IKK"), removal of lower-mileage companion fare tickets.
- Restrictions in class-of-service upgrade ability and policies when travelling on revenue tickets
What is encyclopaedic here is not as much the details of each and every policy change, but the overall devaluation of benefits and related backlash and other response by members, especially frequent travellers. Martinp (talk) 02:52, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Email addresses
[edit]Have re-removed an executive email address in the infobox that I removed a few months ago, and an IP reinstated yesterday without explanation. I feel such email addresses are unencyclopaedic - they do not inform *about* Aeroplan, but instead I assume are intended as "cookie crumbs" for someone who wants to complain to Aeroplan. That is fine, but that's not what WP is about. There are privacy implications. If IP (or others) continue to want to include it, would propose that it be sourced and/or discussed here. Article title
[edit]If they've changed the corporate name to "Aimia", shouldn't we change the article title too? — OwenBlacker (Talk) 12:56, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well since Air Canada bought Aeroplan back, I think this point is moot now. OhanaUnitedTalk page 06:02, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
