Strange phrasing

[edit]

"it is the worst accident involving the ATR-72, and the third worst in Cuba", when I read this I thought it meant it was the third worst accident involving the ATR-72 in Cuba, which made no sense considering the first part of the phrase, so I gathered it meant the third worst accident in general in Cuba, but I still feel very unsure Kanjo Kotr (talk) 03:39, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you put third worst in Cuba first, it would imply that there are two worse accidents with the 72... so I think it's fine, since it is the worst 72 accident. 76.66.203.138 (talk) 05:04, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe "it is the worst accident involving the ATR-72; and the third worst in Cuba", makes it read better (use semicolon instead of comma). Mjroots (talk) 06:12, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We should be using the English word "deadliest." To say something was the "deadliest" (highest death toll) is a factual statement. To say it was the "worst" is an opinion, like "this is the worst piece of broccoli ever." By using "worst" are putting a value judgment on the accident, and we shouldn't be doing that. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:21, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Deadliest" is a horrible Americanism imported from trashy documentaries and the National Enquirer. It has nothing to do with us. Britmax (talk) 18:33, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Check your math

[edit]

In the table reflecting the nationalities of the victims, the number of German passengers is given as 2 but the total number of Germans as 1.Nolween (talk) 18:43, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done, 9 Argentine and 2 German, per source. Mjroots (talk) 19:07, 6 November 2010 (UTC) 10 Argentine and 1 German per source correction. Mjroots (talk) 06:11, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2 german passengers!

[edit]

I knew them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.123.236.18 (talk) 17:04, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References available at the moment state 1 German passenger. This sort of thing is common in aircrash articles until a definitive final report is released. As details get updated, so the article can be. May I extend my condolences on your loss. Mjroots (talk) 18:12, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Passengers and crew

[edit]

The "Passengers and crew" section in this article provides minimal information.

For a good example, see the Wikipedia article "Air France Flight 447" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_France_Flight_447).

I would especially like to see this "Aero Caribbean Flight 883" article include a "Notable passengers" subsection. ProResearcher (talk) 15:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That would depend on whether or not there were any notable passengers on board (i.e. having an article on Wikipedia), and verification thereof. No objections to the idea if these conditions can be met. Mjroots (talk) 08:13, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
